oday, on ANZAC Day, we pause to remember and honour all those who’ve served, and continue to serve, through conflict, crisis, and peacekeeping.
We acknowledge their courage, and the sacrifices made by them and their whānau — sacrifices that continue to shape communities across Aotearoa and Australia.
While the nature of our work in health is very different, ANZAC Day reminds us of the enduring importance of compassion, unity, and service — values that carry through in how we care for others.
Lest we forget.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month is held every February in Aotearoa New Zealand and provides an opportunity to educate, advocate and fundraise for ovarian cancer.

This year’s theme is ‘It’s time to talk about ovarian cancer’. So start the kōrero with friends and whānau. It’s important to know the symptoms, and if they persist for four weeks or more, see your doctor. Most of the time the symptoms won’t be ovarian cancer, but it is really important to get them checked just in case: https://ovariancancerfoundation.org.nz/symptoms/

Sharing kai with friends and whānau is one of the great joys of the holiday season. But, as we all head outdoors for holiday huihui (gatherings) like parties, picnics and barbecues, it’s important to be careful. “Clean, cook, cover and chill” is a good place to start. During this holiday period, remember to pick up your repeat prescriptions to avoid running out of rongoā (medicine), keep up your hand washing practices, and please stay home if you're feeling unwell.

The 7.3 magnitude earthquake that struck Port Vila is heartbreaking, especially just before Christmas in this small, deeply Christian nation. We continue to hear of a climbing death toll, widespread damage and devastation for so many.

At Pinnacle, we value our strong connections with the Pasifika community, including our partnerships with K'aute Pasifika Trust and South Waikato Pacific Islands Community Services.

We recognise the resilience of the people of Vanuatu as they come together to support each other. To our Pasifika patients, colleagues, and partners, if this earthquake has affected you or your loved ones, please know you are in our thoughts. As an organisation, we are considering how we can support Vanuatu in this difficult time, and we know many others will be doing the same.
