Following the prior crash, SH1 at the intersection of Hursley Terrace Road is now open.

There has been another accident - on the bridge at Leithfield between Mill Road and Hursley Terrace.
The bridge is closed and a detour has been put in place.

𝟴𝗮𝗺: 𝗦𝗛 𝟳
At 8am this morning there was a serious single-vehicle crash on SH7, by Marble Point Station just south of Hanmer Springs turnoff.
The road is closed between the highway turnoff into Hanmer Springs and Leslie Hills Road to the south and east, and may be closed for several hours into the afternoon.
There is no detour available in this area which follows the Waiau River.

Road users are advised to delay their travel or use SH1 through Kaikōura to get to Nelson or the Arthur’s Pass route (SH73) if they are travelling between the West Coast/ Buller and Canterbury.

The Police Serious Crash Unit is attending this crash near the Marble Point stock underbridge.

The countdown is officially on to our Epic Easter Egg Hunt, proudly sponsored by Bachcare Holiday Homes. If you and your family are going to be in Hanmer Springs for Easter weekend this is an event not to miss!

To take part, you’ll need to collect one of the Easter Egg Hunt Stamp Cards from any of our local sponsors stores in Hanmer! You can pick these up from Wednesday 13 April or on the day from Four Square Hanmer Springs, Harcourts Four Seasons Realty, Hanmer Springs Scenic Views Motel or Powerhouse Cafe.

Once you have your card, on Saturday 16 April you can start the hunt between 9am -1pm. Follow the clues and find one of our Easter Bunny helpers at each location to collect a stamp to add to your card (and some treats!). There are 5 special locations around Hanmer you’ll need to visit, so some walking will be required!

When you have completed the hunt and collected all the stamps, come down to Chisholm Park between 12pm-4pm to redeem for your Easter eggs. We will also have face painting and the chance for you to win some other great prizes! The more stamps you get the more eggs you can choose 😋
