Little House at the Horseshoe Enjoy private access to the Tuki Tuki river and a world renowned fishing spot. The Little House is owned and managed by your hosts, Aaron & Fiona Hosford.

Set in historic farmland with magnificent views, the Little House invites you to shake off the shackles of a busy life and unwind in Hawke's Bay's idyllic Tuki Tuki Valley. The property is named after the world famous fishing spot “Horseshoe Bend” in the Tuki Tuki River, which runs through the surrounding farmland. Fiona’s family have farmed this land since the 1800s and she and Aaron moved back h

ere with their two daughters in 2021. They soon felt that their magical spot was too good not to share, and the idea for the Little House germinated. Just before Cyclone Gabrielle, Fiona found the perfect shepherd’s cottage for sale online. It was in ruins, but Fiona could see the potential and Aaron was soon persuaded. Undaunted by the task ahead, they relocated The Little House to this spot in mid 2023. The following twelve months were spent in a labour of love, nurturing her back to life with the help of a hugely talented team of local craftspeople and tradies. Locally sourced, recycled and environmentally friendly materials have been used wherever possible, and many of the decorative items are heirlooms from Fiona’s family. The limestone finish on the walls is the very same material as the rocks you see on the cliff-faces above!

I realised that we haven't introduced ourselves to all of you yet, so allow me: We are your hosts, Aaron Hosford, graphic designer at and me, Fiona Hosford, importer and wholesaler at , and occasional freelance interior stylist. We live just over the driveway from The Little House, and are always delighted to meet our guests -or leave them entirely to their own devices if preferred.
Preparing for visitors is always so much fun, a bit like playing dolls-houses on a real-life scale which was always a favourite pass-time when I was little.

Happy Happy New Year lovely people!
It is incredibly gratifying to look back on the year that was and see how our Little House has come to life. Transformed from what one old friend described as an "absolute doghouse" to what a recent guest called "total perfection", we have absolutely loved turning this tiny ruin into something exquisite, and sharing it with wonderful guests from near and far.
To those who have stayed, thank you for choosing the Little House and for the lovely things you have said about your stays.
