Wilsonbayfarm, garden yards. A few generations ago Emily Foote would walk the bridle track out to her vegetable garden. The bridle track was dug by pick and shovel during the depression . The trek from the homestead was bush clad, steep, and rugged. This was on the Northern side of the farm, making the most of longer sunshine hours during the winter. That’s one dedicated lady!

So that’s another season of farm tours come to a close. It’s been a really good season, with many people ‘gracing us with their presence’. It’s been really cool to share our lives with everyone, and having the opportunity to highlight some of the trials and tribulations of being sheep farmers in the sounds, living off grid, and the sorry state of the strong wool industry in New Zealand.
We look forward to the next season, kicking off with Garden Marlborough, but for now, Trev and I will be hibernating for the winter..

We had a great time at the Blenheim wool expo. I just couldn’t help it.. I had to buy more wool!
I also managed to pick up a second hand wool carder.. watch this space!
