A different job today, with 170 eucalyptus lattice pieces for use in building yurts.
Took a while to dock longer flooring boards to get the right length clears then pass the boards through our small edger to get the 50mm strips but it certainly worked!
They will be off to the machinest next week to be machined into finished size 😎

Another good use of nice eucalyptus timber which is good to see in our books!

Mostly pine with a few Doug fir and euc logs as well.

Ash eucalyptus is being cut for flooring. It's being quarter-sawn for stability, and it's showing some lovely 'ripple' or compression grain, so it should look really stunning when it's made into a floor!
A few packs of it were stacked and wrapped this week.

The logs were recovered by Geoff during a property tidy-up job, and it's great that the better logs have been up-cycled into a better product than firewood which is what we like to see!

Loading out a customers timber this morning, they have some nice transport!
We had to get some timber samples ready and off to joinery shop for another customer, using our trusty moisture meter to see the wood was nicely air dry.

We also had to fix and rebuild our repurposed conveyor off the back of the mill, but it's going like a champ now!

A few Black poplar logs going across this mill today looking pretty nice.
Cut to 20mm thick and to be used for internal sarking (roof or wall lining) within a house or tiny home.
A great 'treecycling' job as the arborist dropped these logs to us from a nearby job where they had to be removed.

A few new and cool things happening at the mill currently!
The first being we have added this twin blade edger into our sawmill line!
This machine takes flitches from the mill and cuts the required boards from those flitches.
This speeds up the mill (a lot) and also aids in more or better grade recovery due to edging each flitch by itself and not 'gang edging' on the mill.

A good day cutting the old oak we recently aquired.
1/4 sawn it gives that fantastic 'ray fleck' and looks pretty special so I can't wait to get this stuff dry and then run a piece through the thicknesser and put some oil on it to make it pop!
