Another great day with a client making the knife he always wanted, Bowie inspired design. The images show the original concept drawing then the semi finished blade. Just needs a bit more 800-1000 grit sanding along the brass work. I did not have the time to photograph the Pouch nor the laser engraving I did on the blade (clients own design and emblem). A happy client on his way to Vancouver island. Blade, 3.5mm San mai VG10 steel, Double finger guard (brass) Black Mairie handle with Paua Shell inserts.

Sorry for not posting for a while, Been busy and a minor health scare put me out of action for a while. I have managed to run a few classes and have included images below, Thanks to all who attended . A great time was had and the knives are fantastic. The first two images are of a Seax kitchen knife with a stunning Walnut burl handle, My photo does not show the depth that you can see in the grain of the wood.
the next is a 128 layered damascus dagger with a Mairie handle, the butt cap and the guard are also Damascus steel.
Next is a wedding gift to a friend of mine, 128 layered Damascus steel carving set with Mairie handles. The Mairie was from a tree on her grandfathers estate, adding a real personal and Lineage to the set.
Finally a client wanted to make a bowie/kbar knife, 256 layered Damascus steel Mairie handle with buffalo Horn spacers, Damascus butt piece and guard.
I love helping my clients express there designs into a fully functioning knife always interesting and challenging.

Well the weather outside is dreadful, So idle hands etc. Decided to try using some of the denim Micarta I made the other day. decided to fit it on a small drop point. The Micarta is 9mm thick with alternating layers of white and blue Denim. This was sourced out of jeans bought at the local op-shop. On the handles the denim was hand sanded to 400 grit then a light polish with Zam polish.
