Have you been watching First Responders Season 2 each Wednesday at 7.30pm on TV3?
Kaikoura Helicopters is a division of GCH Aviation, operators of the Canterbury Westpac rescue Helicopter, Nelson Marlborough rescue helicopter, Roa West Coast rescue helicopter.

Our rescue helicopter teams from Canterbury and Nelson have featured. Our air rescue services are vital for the Kaikoura community to access treatment and transfer to hospital.
The series has allowed viewers to see the service we provide to the community.
These services are made possible with the help from the amazing community fundraising efforts of the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust and Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter trust.

What age can I start helicopter flight training?

You might be surprised to know that there aren't actually many age limits in aviation. You can start training at any age, as long as you can reach the controls! You also need to be old enough (or young enough...!) to understand the process and procedures, so that you'll get some benefit from the training, otherwise it's an expensive hobby...
You do have to be 16 years or older to fly a helicopter by yourself ("going solo"), but if you're in good health, there's nothing stopping you getting airborne in the twilight years...

This weekend Aotearoa celebrates the Matariki public holiday. Matariki is known as the Māori New Year, a time of celebrating, honouring and looking forward to the new year ahead.

The reappearance of the Matariki stars in the early morning sky brings the past year to a close and marks the beginning of the new year.

Matariki is the Māori name to a star cluster that appears in the early morning sky in New Zealand during the mid-winter months. Historically, the stars of Matariki were closely tied to planting, harvesting and hunting. If the stars appeared clear and bright, it signified an abundant season ahead.

We are excited to announce our new product, Kaikoura Helicopters Helijet.
Our new partnership between Kaikoura Helicopters and Energy Jet.

Experience a birds eye view of the dramatic landscape, Kaikoura being a township wedged between the Southern Alps and the Pacific ocean.

Energy Jet, is owned and operated by Tim Loughnan, a fifth generation sheep and beef farmer in the area.

Tim expertly navigates Energy Jet's late model Kwikkraft jetboat through shallow river braids and dramatic canyons at heart-pumping speeds, with 360-degree spins and drifts thrown in for good measure.
