A great trip out yesterday in support of the rural support trust with . Pity you couldn’t make this trip . you would’ve loved it!

We only had a limited amount of time to be able to fit these guys in for the day with a 2 hour window before they were off and onto their next port of call. We intended to go out for a quick bottom bash to get some cod and cray, but came away with much better!

🤔I could’ve sworn the fish was bigger, it must have been because was in the frame making it look small

Who doesn’t love a good storm! The southerlies around here sure know how to pack a punch and today’s efforts were certainly no different. We have had all seasons and then some here today. I even spied some snow in a break in the clouds 🥶

We got 2 out of our 3 trips out today. All our guests were happy and safely in, well ahead of the storm.

Tomo and Rob then turned around and headed out quickly to do some maintenance on a last pot without guests on. I’m pretty sure I could hear those two salty pirates yelling and yahooing all the way back in. I reckon it took them back to their old commercial ways and the seas the used to work in. Head to our stories to see some footage of them playing in the rain and hail and loving every minute 🏴‍☠️

Righto, c’mon, fess up,.. who flushed their goldfish?!

A different kind of catch today. Google search isn’t bringing up much for us tonight 🤷🏼‍♀️ we originally thought it was a type of Perch, or a type of Alfonsino, or even a breed of red snapper but they all seem to not quite fit the bill or have slightly different fins. What do you reckon it is?

😂

And here we were thinking our boat was a decent size.

Not one but two cruise ships anchoring in the bay today proved to be a mighty sight and one busy little harbour. Some great cod getting caught today nonetheless 😎

Good to get above the ‘office’ and have a stretch of the legs after work tonight. We really do have such an amazing backyard to explore here, from playing in and on the sea to climbing hills, there’s something waiting around every corner!

Tools down lads, we’re going fishiiiiiiiing! 👷🏻‍♂️👷🏽‍♂️👷🏼‍♂️👷🏼‍♂️

Not a bad way to treat your crew I reckon and it seems so does everyone else, as it has been a blur of tradies these past few weeks. We’ve had everyone from builders to sparkies, I.T to the army!

So if you missed the boat (figuratively and metaphorically) then why not book your staff do now for January and start the new year right!

If you’re heading to Kaikoura be sure to leave plenty of time to cruise the coast and take time to pull over and take in the views.

There are some great spots for photo opportunities along the way. There are always plenty of seals lazing about on the rocks and if you’re lucky enough, you might even just spot a whale or dolphin from shore!

POV: When you’re feeling all the festive feels because you just got some new reels for the boat!

It feels like Christmas has come early with these sweet runners, Shimano Tekota 800PG, from all spooled up and ready to catch some great fish

If you too want to have an epic time and catch some good fish on these, give us a call.

If you’re after some knowledge on the local area for hunting or fishing or you want the gear to go do it, head along to and have a yarn to the A team up there

A stonker of a fish caught this morning!

Ling are a common catch in NZ waters living at depths of anywhere from 100-900 metres. Typically caught by trawler or long liner, as they are a well sought after fish because of their versatile, firm flesh which can be cooked in a multitude of ways. They can grow upto 2m in length, so today’s catch was a decent size with a good amount of fish to share around.

Another stellar day out on the water with some thumper crays and cod being caught 💥

How good to get out of the fog and wind (say that fast enough and you’ll understand how we’ve felt about the spring winds this last month 😉) and have some sunshine for a change, summer is surely on the way

So it sounds like the beginning of a joke,.. “a Welsh comedian, a presenter and a chef all walk onto a boat”….

It was great to have this crew onboard the other day for a snippet in their upcoming show. Damn shame the weather didn’t play the game for us all that well, but hey that’s fishing isn’t it and there’s always next time
