On 17 August, one of our longstanding Just Avocados staff members, Simon Gorringe, was celebrated at the Katikati Fire brigade Annual Honours Awards evening for 25 years’ service to the Voluntary Fire Brigade. He was awarded with the Gold Star for this long service by the Rt Hon MP Scott Simpson.

This is a huge honour, and something that Simon can be very proud of. It was a privilege for some of our staff to be present for the celebration. If you get a chance, please congratulate Simon on this outstanding achievement and contribution to our community.

Avoworks needs more hands!

They've got a great opportunity for a couple of new team members to join their busy, hardworking team. The roles are hands on and mostly centered around orchard operations across several sites in the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel, and Ngātea.

While experience using agrichemicals, operating sprayers, and holding a Growsafe Certificate are preferred, Avoworks are willing to provide full training to the successful applicant.

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

🚜 Tractor and/or machinery operating experience.
😃 Good problem-solving skills and a positive attitude.
⏰ Good time management and organisational skills (ability to prioritise!).
👥 Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Avoworks is a team that works together.
🦺 A good knowledge and awareness of safe work practices.
🌳 A good level of physical fitness and happy to work outside in most weather.
🚗 Flexibility to work across multiple sites in Bay of Plenty, Coromandel, and Ngātea.
🏠 Legal right to live and work in New Zealand.

Our growers prioritise crop management for healthy avocado trees and sustained productivity. In a culture of continuous improvement, they value scale, innovation, and expertise to ensure overall crop profitability and success.

🌳 Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Whakamarama, LATCO orchard was thoughtfully developed in 2017, spanning across 10 hectares of land. Amidst this green paradise, Tim and Luke proudly cultivate 1400 Hass on Dusa trees planted in a high-density tramline format. 🌿✨
