Aroha Island is a secluded island on Kerikeri Inlet offering a unique ecological experience. It comprises of 7 hectares mangroves and a 5 hectare island at Rangitane about 12km NE of Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands in Northland, New Zealand. Travel towards Opito Bay then follow the brown Aroha Island signs. Aroha Island is home to North Island Brown Kiwi and a diversity of other birds and wildlife.

When staying on the island you can look for our kiwi foraging in their natural habitat and we will advise you on the best way to do this. You can also soak up the peaceful pace of island life, take our 30-40 minute bush walk, learn more about the birds and trees that inhabitat the island, explore the unique mangrove environs and the stunning night sky. Aroha Island is linked to the mainland via a causeway and is open to day visitors between 9am and 6pm. For holiday makers looking holiday accommodation or camping facilities, Aroha Island offers bush or waterside campsites, 2 bush cottages and a 3 bedroom holiday house within a 12-hectare natural environment. The campsites are sheltered and close to the native bush with a mix of powered and unpowered sites. BBQs, gas cookers, fridge/freezer and clean kitchen, shower and toilet facilities are available.
