Positions include Train Guard, Ticketing, and Emergency Services Personnel (Firetruck).

Learn new skills, get up close to one of New Zealand’s heritage icons, and spend time in a great team environment.

Is it possible to view the flyer in winter? 🚂

We have had people asking us if they can view the steam train in winter? Although we are closed, you can still view Ab795 and our carriages through the yard gate. Our other steam locomotive Ab778 (that is currently out of service due to needing repairs) is sitting on the Kingston Wharf along with some other heritage rolling stock. The drive to Kingston is 30mins from Frankton and is absolutely stunning! Please check the The Kingston Flyer Cafe & Bar page for their Cafe & Bar opening hours.

WEATHER UPDATE: Its currently snowing at ground level in Fairlight, and Garston, and part the way towards Kingtson. Kingtson town main road is sleet and rain at this stage with the hills covered ❄️

Attention: The Kingston Flyer will only be running their 2PM tours for the rest of the season, plus one extra tour on Monday 3 June for Kings Birthday. With only 3 weeks left, we would love to see you before the end of the season! Tickets are essential and must be booked online at www.thekingstonflyer.nz 🚂

*Please note the 10.30am tours are now CANCELLED. We are aware that the weather is much cooler in May & June with the roads to Kingtson being prone to ice and morning frosts ❄️. Please wear warm clothing on the Kingtson Flyer and drive to the conditions. A hot cuppa is complimentary for all passengers at Fairlight Station. 🚂❄️🚂
