It's Throwback Thursday - so time to revisit the solid Oak parquet floor that we installed in Prefab - Eatery & Events Hall.
Large solid Oak parquet pieces were laid in a basket weave pattern, with the original piece size being reduced slightly and a double-border added as the design progressed. Beveled sides and ends ensure the individual identity of each parquet piece is retained.

The honey tone of the Rimu creates a warm glow that makes the space feel cosy and inviting - fabulous for cold days like today.

From time to time we get slightly unusual requests. This ‘cat door’ allows the cat to get to his food, but keeps the always-hungry labrador out.
Made from recycled Matai floorboards to match the floor and finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C - Pure. Our client purchased the handle from a street market on her travels through southern Spain.
The distinctive Te Wharewaka o Pōneke function centre sits on the edge of Wellington's Whairepo Lagoon and needed a standout floor to suit it's eye-catching design.
Nearly 15 years ago, the James Henry team installed Recycled Matai T&G floorboards in 83mm x 20mm size over 230m2 in the Hui room. As the substrate is a heated concrete slab, managing the moisture content of the timber carefully was essential.

A great week in Perth, an Australasian Timber Flooring Association - ATFA board meeting and checking in with our supplier of recycled Jarrah timber - we loaded another container ready to ship.
Jarrah is an excellent timber - hard, stable, attractive and also exterior durable. And as salvaged timber it’s unarguably sustainable - No trees were harmed!
This replica fishermen's cottage needed to look as if it had stood for decades so James Henry created bespoke recycled timber wall lining and supplied uplifted floorboards for this quirky and cosy Clarks Beach cottage.
The floor is made from salvaged Matai T&G floorboards, while the wall and ceilings are lined with Rimu T&G. This timber was custom run to have a sawn face and includes random board widths from 100 to 220mm to add charm to this already charming project.
Our 'New from Recycled' Heart Matai T&G flooring looks superb in this beautiful kitchen. We installed the Matai floor then finished it with water-based polyurethane.

We were very pleased to be involved with this exceptional Passive House project with the teams at Robertson Architects and QualMax Construction. James Henry supplied and installed recycled Rimu T&G flooring that we manufacture in Petone and finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil+2C in 'Pure' to enhance the natural tones of the Rimu.
We're wild about wider floorboards. These 300mm wide engineered Oak floorboards look amazing in this Greytown home built by the team at Elmdale Building Company.
Wider boards in a feature grade show more of the organic beauty of the Oak. Our range of engineered European Oak flooring is available in board widths up to 300mm and comes prefinished in one of Rubio Monocoat's 40 standard colour finishes - including the ever popular colour 'White 5%' as seen here.

Recycled Flooring in this Passive House makes a Warm and Welcoming Statement
A timeless and warm colour choice for this engineered European Oak floor we installed for our clients. The deep brown tones add character to the wood grain, showcasing the Oak's natural patterns and organic textures - the perfect setting for busy days and cosy nights.
This colour finish was achieved by using a Rubio Monocoat Precolour in 'Mystic Brown' and finishing with Oil Plus 2c in 'Bourbon'.
