Nice day this morning from Ferry road track. A lot more difficult than I recall 20 years ago but I guess age is a factor. 😂😂
Yes that’s a Karearea in the foreground, we were bystanders to a ferocious territory dispute including an inflight battle.

Cruising the harbour this morning in my electric kayak I came across this little guy, who ignored me in it's morning preening routine. It was very happy to allow me to come within a couple of meters. Photo 8:52.
3 seperate others were in the vicinity but more wary, I guess they were still fishing.

Not seen this before…. Usually a southerly is offshore here due to the shape of the hill on the corner. This storm was a bit faster than I’ve seen. Unfortunately my weather station failed without power.

High tide and a minor swell.
The new wall is taking it so far, with the current beach size (almost none after it was removed, but it has also risen half a meter in the three weeks since this lower wall was installed)
The upper wall is yet to be completed, you can see the wooden frames holding it ready for concrete behind.

Remember managing teens? This parent tries a few tactics to get the second one to jump heading to sea this morning. Watch to the end 😂

On Thursday, Council’s Infrastructure and Regulatory Committee endorsed a recommendation for the speed limit between Lowry Bay and Days Bay to be reduced to 50km/hr. The recommendation will now go to Waka Kotahi. Recommendations for traffic-calming raised pedestrian crossings in Lowry Bay, Sunshine Bay and Point Howard we're also endorsed. Nearly 460 submissions were received during the consultation phase.

In a separate item, recommended speed reuctions around Muritai School were approved. Speed reductions around Wellesley, and especially along Marine Drive, will be further reviewed.

Want to be a part of an initiative that SAVES lives? Donate any lifejackets you aren’t using today!

Look out for this bright yellow recycling bin at Seaview Marina boat ramp. If you have any second-hand lifejackets that your children have grown out of, or you no longer need, please place them in the bin. Our Harbour Rangers will be checking and servicing them to ensure they are safe before redistributing to local communities that need them.

Repurposing and recycling second hand lifejackets will help save lives in your community.

If you would like to know more about this programme, or have multiple jackets you don’t need, please email us at [email protected]
