At Manakau School we encourage involvement from our parents and whanau. Please accept this as a genuine invitation to become closely involved with the daily life and adventures of Manakau School (Deb Logan-Principal). We are a decile six school with children enrolled from New Entrants to Year 8, set in spacious grounds, featuring magnificent century-old trees, and a developing edible organic garde

n. Manakau School consists of four well-resourced classes, two of which are in the well preserved 'Old Block' which was built in 1888. Our School's motto is 'Personal Best Always' and an emphasis is placed on developing sound educational programmes based on the NZ National Curriculum. Teachers develop programmes where 'Learning is Fun', and 'Exciting things happen!', themes which underpin the entire learning and teaching programme. Manakau School's Values are Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence. These support our schools Vision Statement "To provide a safe environment where learning is stimulating, supported and fun, and where our children are encouraged to achieve to their fullest potential, academically, socially and physically." We currently operate an enrollment scheme, a detailed description and map of the zone can be obtained from the school office.

This term Korimako have been out and about a wee bit. This week a trip to Taitoko (Levin). The teaching team finishing off the year focusing on how people are kaitiaki of our community. Many thanks to ‘yellow watch’ Levin Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Civil Defence team Horowhenua District Council

Our schools history is important to us. Today the weather was rather unpleasant, however, we had lots of fun and a MEGA lunch. We are sending a big thank you to our parents for supporting this years Ag Day.

we are fundraising for Manakau School Summer treats for the whole family. Bubbles, dessert wine, juices, fizzies, Tickets $10 for one, $20 for three. Drawn 17 December.

We have achieved so much! The new swings are a fantastic addition to our space. HUMUNGOUS thanks to those of you who supported our children by sponsoring our School Fun Run - NZ at the beginning of the year, Aotea Gaming Trust ($9k), Pelorus Trust ($5k), Trevor and Deb from Matta Products for the installation and Lisa Dale-Low for securing for the funding and coordination. We are so grateful! There is a line up of children every break time🥰

We’ve been busy…a sneak preview of our Term 3 ‘Creative in School’ project. This awesome mural completed with artist - Wendy Hodder. A visual representation of Manakau, aligning with our school vision “to develop guardians of our changing world”

Calling for Gumboots. We have a plan for something special to show our support for the I AM HOPE foundation.
If you have any old gumboots, any condition (don’t have to be pairs) we would love to give them a new life:) please drop them into the school office, or message us and we will arrange a pick up.

It’s been a busy term for our littlies in Team Korimako. Finished off with a re-run of their Space inspired WOW fashion show (red carpet included) and Maths this week, a focus in time. Shadow and sun dial magic.

Go the FOMS (Friends of Manakau School) 12 parents, 17 children and 2 hours of awesome teamwork - Mulch Mountain is now on the gardens and creating paths in Ngahere Nui ( large bush area). Feeling so grateful!!!

Calling all FOMS (Friends of Manakau School). Wheelbarrow Working Bee - this Sunday 9-12. Please bring shovels, wheelbarrows, muscles and smiles. Vehicles with trailers will also help to move mulch mountain👍🏻

So many bloopers trying to record the bike track team. Stunts! A wish list for bigger jumps! Higher jumps!...what we heard off camera. The bike track helps the team burn off energy..."We are more calm when we get into class". Fundraising Goal 2. Resurface the track.

We are holding a school colour run as a major fundraising focus this term.. The colour run is coming up in 20 days and we’re off to a great start - $2000 raised in 1 week! We wanted to show you what we’re fundraising for. First goal out of three… new swings 😯 Sign up info has been sent home. Please share your childs profile with friends and family.
