In our work, we teach our guests about Te Tiriti/the Treaty of Waitangi - the founding document of NZ - signed in 1840 by Māori chiefs and representatives of the British Crown.

We talk about it on our Glorious tour bus - some of our tours even go to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. We talk about it with our Glorious corporate clients in their boardrooms when we teach them about Māori language, culture and history.

The Treaty is being threatened in NZ parliament by an unnecessary bill under the guise of “equality” for all. But we are NOT equal. What we want is EQUITY!

There is a peaceful positive movement happening in Aotearoa and around the world right now called TOITŪ TE TIRITI. We joined because we are FOR Te Tiriti. Our message is simple: Honour the Treaty.

Our co-founder Lulu was on Tagata Pasifika - a national weekly Pacific current affairs show to talk about the hīkoi/march.

We were privileged to be featured in the Ringa Hora “We be who we see” campaign recently. An initiative that uses key Māori values to celebrate our people in different career industries & highlights pathways toward new opportunities. It was inspiring to be featured for our work in the indigenous tourism space.

As the saying goes “We can not be, what we can not see” meaning be an example that inspires others - especially our rangatahi! 🔑 Thank you to Hinewai & the team at Ringa Hora for this opportunity.

Glorious Culture: Fakaalofa lahi atu 👋🏾 Welcome to Faahi Tapu he Vagahau Niue – Niue Language Week!

Fakaue Lahi - Glorious gratitude to Leitualaalemalietoa Lynn Lolokini Pavihi, MNZM of the Centre for Pacific Languages for joining us at the U.S. Consulate in Auckland this month to share Vagahau Niue (Niue language), culture and history with U.S. Consulate staff.

Vagahau Niue has been registered with UNESCO as an endangered language. We want to play our small Glorious part in preserving, sustaining and maintaining Vagahau Niue and Niue Culture forever.

The Glorious Niue Class was timely as U.S. Consul General Melissa Sweeney (seen in this picture) and other American officers are in Niue this week to celebrate P**e Fakamotu, 50 years of self-government in Niue.

We learned a lot during this session and look forward to a Glorious trip to Niue aka ‘The Rock of Polynesia’ in the future.

Glorious Publicity: We are proud to help our cousin Baritone Benson Wilson share his story about the Samoana concert he is planning in London next month and his new venture the Mana Arts Collective. Benson and his talented soprano and fashion model wife Isabella Moore represent us all on stages and catwalks around the world. The Samoana concert will feature the power couple and some of their esteemed friends and colleagues in a celebration of Samoa’s resilience. 🇼🇸❤️

A musical celebration of Samoa's history and resilience will debut at the Princess Alexandra Hall - Royal Over Seas League in London next month.

We love watching TV shows where long lost families get reunited. Today we got to be part of a real life family reunion! An NZ resident friend of a friend grew up as an only child, only to find out decades later that she has 7 siblings in the USA! Today 2 of her sisters flew to Aotearoa NZ from Pittsburgh, PA. It is their first time on our land. We welcomed them with a ‘mihi whakatau’ or traditional Māori informal welcome ceremony. They were delighted! So were we. These are the Glorious connections we love to see! ❤️

GLORIOUS MEDIA RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SĀMOANA - an operatic event celebrating Samoan resilience - is to be held in London on November 22, 2024.

Mana Arts presents SĀMOANA - a musical celebration of Samoan resilience at the Princess Alexandra Hall - Royal Over Seas League in London on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 7-9pm.

The word Sāmoana represents the essence of the Samoan islands and Samoan people. The arrival of Europeans in Sāmoa saw major changes for the locals. Samoa became a colony of Germany, then the United Kingdom and New Zealand before gaining independence in 1962.

Award-winning NZ born Samoan baritone Benson Wilson (from the villages of Sāoluafata, Apia, Si'umu, Fagali'i and Sālēlologa) has Auckland and Hawkes Bay roots and is now based in the UK. He says, "Samoa is hosting the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) this month. We have gone from a former colony to welcoming the Commonwealth aiga (family) to our island home. Here in London, the Royal Commonwealth Society is supporting Sāmoana, to help us share the music, language and culture of Sāmoa and those nations that have impacted our history, culture and family bloodlines."

Sāmoa is the furthest country that was colonised by Germany. The effects of German occupation remain today within the genealogy of the Samoan families of German descent and the enduring influence of German cuisine. A selection of German classical music will be shared during Sāmoana. To celebrate the resilience of Sāmoa during the challenging years of British and New Zealand occupancy, popular art songs, folk songs and waiata Māori (Māori songs) will be shared. Traditional Samoan music will then represent more than 60 years of Samoan independence and political stability.

"The evening will be a look back at the recent history of Samoa," said Wilson. "But even before the palagi (Europeans) came to our islands, we have always been resilient people. This is our love letter to the land of our parents and grandparents. We want people here in London to learn more about us and for the next generation of Samoans coming through to know our history. It hasn't always been a good time for our people. My family was involved in the Mau Movement, the movement for Samoan independence. It was because of the commitment of that generation that we are able to thrive and succeed as Samoans today."

Participating artists include talented Samoan diaspora performers: soprano singer Aivale Cole, soprano Isabella Moore, baritone Benson Wilson, dancer and artist Hanalee Aroha Vaine, guitarist Alex Heather and artist Luana Asiata.

Kia ora e te iwi! Hey everyone! Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori/Māori Language Week is over for another year but for us - it’s Māori Language Day EVERY DAY!!! Your bonus ‘Kupu o te Rā’ or word of the day today is WHĀNAU (pronounced “FAH-NO”) and it means family.

Introducing the newest members of the Glorious whānau: The Twin Dragons - Tūmatauenga (God of War) and Tāwhirimātea (God of Winds) were born on Sept 19, 2024. The Year of the 🐉

Glam-Ma Lulu aka co-director Louisa got to spend precious time with the newborns and their big brother Shyne in Heretaunga (Hastings) this week.

When you come on tour with us - you become our whānau. Our business is about building intergenerational opportunities for wealth and well-being. These twins and the next generation are our Glorious why! 🌈☀️❤️

We run Glorious Inc. according to traditional Māori values and concepts. We consult the Maramataka (Māori lunar calendar) when planning our tour dates. Our corporate values are not just posted on our wall and website - they are Māori cultural values that are an integral part of our daily lives. When you come on tour with us - you are supporting an indigenous knowledge system and connection to this land that goes back centuries and spans generations. Our business plan is long term and intergenerational. We treat our guests like whānau/family and recognise that our language and culture are valuable gifts from our ancestors. We practice our protocols - like performing karakia/incantations at the start and end of tours - because our ways WORK. Our guests don’t always know how much goes into making sure that they have an authentic cultural experience but we consider their whole wellbeing.

Before Hone Tipene makes a call on whether to take a job or not, he looks to the moon.
