The lovely Froogly. Farm resident across the driveway from the Quarters and always happy to accept a carrot or apple 🍏🐴 💕 Back in his heyday Froogs picked up a 4th place in the eventing at Horse of the Year but his career was cut short by lameness, so he now enjoys his laid back retirement, grazing and looking out for friendly visitors ☺️

Current rates for the Easter hols are $250 per night for up to 4 people. This includes access to our 220hectare farm for walks and birdwatching; plus private access to the Mangaone River, for trout fishing or a picnic.
Minimum 2 night stay.
A breakfast pack of our homebred Saddleback bacon and fresh farm eggs can be ordered additionally.
If you would like to spend an hour or two helping to feed our farm animals and learning how we care for them this can be arranged also.

When you stay with us, you can order a breakfast pack of fresh free range eggs from our happy chooks and bacon from our homebred Saddleback pigs 🥓🍳
Enjoy the rural farm views, with cattle on your doorstep and birdsong to wake you up 🌅
Our hunting options are aimed at families and couples, particularly encouraging women to get out there and give it a go! We have a few Red deer, feral goats, hare and rabbits. Hunting bookings will be limited, to preserve numbers and we will also limit the number of animals per booking. Proof of fi****ms license will be required. If you don’t have a fi****ms license you will need to be under the direct supervision of a license holder 🙂

We have private farm access to the Mangaone River. The ultimate secluded hideaway. Perfect for a dip, a picnic or have a go at catching a trout 🎣

Inside the well insulated cosy quarters you will find a new wood burning stove and fully equipped kitchen. Lay back and warm your feet by the fire with a cuppa ☕️
Out and about on the farm. A beautiful spot for a walk. If you’re feeling adventurous you can hike down our steep private track to the Mangaone River and try your luck at catching a trout, take a dip in the fresh water or have a picnic and enjoy the bird life 🎣 ☀️

The Shearer’s Quarters have been modernized in the important areas, with insulation throughout and a new wood burning stove but they retain many of the original features and offer a truely authentic New Zealand farmstay experience.
Private farm access to the Mangaone Stream on your doorstep, for fishing, swimming and picnicking. With our endeavors to enhance bird life on the farm, you can listen to the sound of Tui, Kereru and Fantail as you enjoy the view from the deck.
Take a walk at sunset and you may even catch a glimpse of a wild deer!

Do you have tractor mad kids like Ted? At this time of year we are feeding silage to our bulls most days, so you can watch the tractor and wagon at work, in the paddock surrounding the Quarters 🐮
