“I grew up in a small town in rural Virginia, USA, where no one ever left. Our biggest trip was to the beach once a year. I would rip out travel pictures from magazines and brochures, taping them to my bedroom wall, dreaming of seeing the world.

People said I was crazy for wanting to travel, but nothing makes you work harder than someone telling you you can’t do it; I thrive on challenges. So, fifteen years ago, I began my travel journey through blogging and a leap of faith in Spain.

But I’ll never forget my first trip in Antarctica. We landed in South Georgia, visiting St. Andrews Bay with half a million king penguins and glacial mountains. I sat down and cried. Recently, I returned as an Intrepid expedition guide, and watching passengers leave thrilled by their experiences was incredibly rewarding.”
