This fig came to me as a cutting from a family member, it's Parent tree is huge and old, potentially a British variety from over 60 yrs ago.
Any ideas ?

My other trees are later ripening, around end of February.

Crazy busy here,
We are preparing for the openday where we showcase our Artisan sausages, salami and other wonderful smoked cured meats and fish, but I also encourage visitors to have a wander in the garden while here.
The spring colour and birds are amazing !
so... I'm out till dusk every night doing garden stuff ! it's never enough !!

Spring is sprung... feeling pretty stoked to see it all green after last summers' drought,
there are a few gaps where plants died but I'll praise most perennials for their tenacity.
The biggest loss is the big old Silver birch, over the shade garden! Not sure how the plants will fare this summer,
I hope leaving the dead branches to cast a vague shade will help,
I've also planted a hop to grow up the trunk and train out the branches for more shade.
A dilemma for sure !

Ginkgo bursting bud ... this is when it shows it's coniferous origins, looks similar to a larch breaking bud!

Did you know ... Ginkgo is and ancient tree and in the conifer family

The Tui has been hinting loudly that he's been neglected over the past few weeks, the Bellbirds have had a lot to say too, so I refilled the bottles today !!
