Kia Ora (Greetings)
Ever since my last custom tour in March 2020 and when our borders closed -which is a very sensible reaction to keep our country safe – I have been keeping a low profile and considering what the future will hold for Tailored Travel. As previously mentioned, after 26 years it was time to scale down regardless of the world situation.
However, I received several responses from guests who wish to return or were cancelled due to Covid. I also believe that our concept is unique and well positioned for when the borders will open up again. However, I believe that this will be another few years away. Yes, there is talk of a staged and relaxing border control in the first quarter of 2022, with many restrictions. Mainly focusing on ‘safe’ countries allowing travel entry (without the required Managed Isolation Quarantine of 14 days) Having done this with Australia, taught us the enormous risk that comes with it – it only lasted a short time as Australia was far more relaxed and as it turned out our Delta strain was brought over during that period. So personally, I would think consideration should be given to a while longer.
My ’realistic’ dates would be around 2023 -2024 or even 2025 to be on the safe side.
In this light, back to touring with Tailored Travel. My thinking at this stage is that I would be open to take on the occasional guests in due course as mentioned above and refer any new enquiries to a like-minded and appropriate associate.
I am definitely missing the interaction with our lovely guests and providers as well as our travels through our beautiful countryside. However there comes a time to retreat, privileged and with great memories.
