I love this story....

“I had planned to see 20 countries in 2020 with Intrepid.

As a teenager I always dreamed of travelling but it was just a dormant dream. Then I went to school, got married, had children. I never really thought it was possible and had some fears about it as a solo traveller.

One day I sat down and planned a trip on my own. I realized the bigger fear I had was actually not doing something then looking back and wishing I had. Right then I promised myself as a solo traveller, that I didn’t want to wait for somebody. I’m going to go! The idea of the unknown will always have a little sense of fear, but it also has a wonderful sense of magic. And by not stepping into that unknown, you miss out on that magic.

Being 65 I can tell you the number doesn’t matter. You can do this at any age.

I never made it to the 20 countries. I only saw 9 before the pandemic hit. But I also realized that number doesn’t really matter either.

What matters is that you go. I have re-booked 4 trips for 2022, 15 countries isn’t so bad… I think 2022 is really my year.”

One of the things I love most about travel is there is always somewhere you have never been. Ohope beach; Whakatane and hundreds of Black swans and their babies on a lake somewhere near Rotorua (I was so amazed by the swans forgot to check the name of the lake!!) Was so great to discover new places.

If you are looking for a really georgeous place to hold a special event or a group get together I can highly recommend the Narrows Landing in Hamilton. Beautiful gardens, lovely rooms and really wonderful people.

These great photo's are from my friend Margot who has just come back from an amazing holiday in South America, where the spent time in Colombia, which she absolutely loved. The people were helpful, and they found it really good value for money and allot easier to travel around the country than the expected. She highly recommends anyone looking at going, to go now before it starts getting to touristy.
