This is the lovely Hughes group, heading off from our Hokitika depot a couple of weeks ago.
Made up of multiple families, they are on their way to Kumara today - and finishing their adventure with a TranzAlpine journey.
They hail from Canberra and Sydney and have been enjoying the West Coast Wilderness trail
We enjoyed their smiley faces every morning, as they were one of the first larger groups to come through the depot this season.

We love to encourage the next generation of cyclists and last week we met with the Bike Samoa Federation whom we gifted 25 bikes. 🚲

From the Samoa Observer Newspaper:
“The idea for the donation came when the Outdoor Samoa Manager saw a Tamaitai Toa session where 12 women were taking turns riding one of four bikes. Mr Sexton is himself a keen cyclist who has participated in BSF events, including the cycling National Champs earlier this year.
"We had some bikes that were due to be retired from hiring out. All still in good condition and so we wanted to see the bikes continue to be used, and to support any learn to ride programs in Samoa," explained Mr Sexton."Fostering young cyclists and anyone learning to ride a bike, of whatever age, is something we love to do."

After we tuck our bikes in for the next few months, we close the Samoa depot until April next year.
