Jim Taranaki has been carving for 17 years and his work is as beautiful as it is unique. Inspired by his Maori roots, Jim's work embraces the richness of Maori symbolism combined with a distinctive modernism. Jim's teaching methodology is equally unique. He gives every student the freedom to design their own piece then guides you through the cutting, shaping & filing process until your piece is fi

nished. All the bone carving is done in Jim and his wife Charlotte's home studio which looks over the Hokianga Harbour. If you're staying at a hostel or backpackers, he will pick you up at around 9am & drop you back when you have finished (there is no time limit to how long it's going to take to do your bone carving). All you need to do is relax & enjoy the Taranaki hospitality as you're working on your very own special bone carving. (Lunch is provided) Over lunch listen to Maori Myths & Legends.

Howdy Country Music Friends, As we all move towards getting our country back on track, we at the Hokianga Country Music Club say a big Hello and Welcome to all and hope that you all made the most of Lockdown, staying home, safe and well.

We are receiving enquiries about this years Hokianga Country Music Festival, if it's going ahead or not. COVID-19 has made a huge impact on how we manage our club and our upcoming events including our Club Days. Our committee will be meeting mid June to consider what the options are and best course of action for everyone. We will keep you informed. Take care, Stay safe, BE KIND.

TO ALL OUR Country Music Friends and club members - due to the Coronavirus our Hokianga Country Music Club has cancelled the following-

- Our advertised gig at Kohukohu Hotel, on Saturday 29th March

- Our club days (2nd Sunday of each month) at Opononi Hotel
and bookings of future gigs, are on hold until further notice.

This years 2020 Hokianga Country Music Festival in September is on hold until further notice.

Take care out there and be kind to one another.
