On the road again. Been lovely working on the gorgeous Coromandel for the last couple months raising calves. Even got to throw the rod in! Where to next? We're heading inland to Morrinsville to milk and assist during mating until the end of January to cover a staffs maternity leave. After that? Who knows where the road will take us next! 13 days to Xmas! As a farmer Xmas time can seem like another day on the farm. Silage, maize and hay needs to be cut, bailed and stored away, topping paddocks, repairs and maintenance to be done before the next calving, and so on and so on...
It is important to remember to make sure you and your staff get down time, to reconnect with family and friends and to just have a bloody good laugh and chin wag and munch down some good kai in good company.
As farmers we tend to keep plodding along, day after day, as the farm never stops and animals need to be cared for. Remember to give yourself a bit of that caring and dedication to your well-being as you do to the farm and animals. 🙏

I hope calving went realitively well for you. It is one of the most busiest and stressful times of year on the farm, you hit the ground running and don't seem to stop until the girls start easing up on popping out babies!
It is essential to make sure you get some down time and rejuvenate yourself before the next farm calender event, mating, which is only a few weeks away.

By nature, cows are quite curious and docile. If you are calm and quiet with them it doesn't take long for them to allow you into their space, and will quickly seek you out if you can give a good scratch! Cows love good scratches!
This flows on to having relaxed cows in the shed which means more milk in the vat.

Welcome to Nomad Farm Services
I have many years of experience in the farming industry. In my time managing farms I have achieved top production and animal welfare with consistent body condition and health. I have received certificates and cups for decreased SCC and 6 week in calf rates of 96%.
After an accident in September 2022 and 9 months of rehabilitation I have had time to reflect on how I can better serve the farming community.
Knowing the difficulties for farmers to find skilled and reliable relief staff I have decided that this is where my services would be of the most benefit.
I offer:

*Relief milking, either in a team or sole charge.

*Calf rearing, I strongly believe in giving the next generation of your herd the best start which flows on to make for calm, healthy and resilient cows.

*Sole charge Farm sitting. Do you simply need a break from the intensity of farming or get away as a family. You can be assured your herd and farm are in the best of hands. I can feed out if required, set breaks, crop feeding or any other tasks that are required.

So you can rest easy knowing your cows and farm is in excellent hands.
I am currently based in Palmerston North with the intention in the future to travel to other areas of the North island to offer this service.
I am with Xero accounting system, so I simply invoice you and you pay on the invoice. Easy!
