๐โจ Keep your eyes peeled this Seaweek as we spotlight some of the incredible and curious sea creatures our guides encounter while gliding through the crystal-clear waters of the Queen Charlotte Sound with our guided kayak groups! ๐ฃโโ๏ธ๐ฟ
One of the fascinating creatures we often spot is the Eagle Ray! As one of 25 ray species found in Aotearoa, these magnificent creatures belong to the Elasmobranch group, which also includes skates, and sharks. Unlike sharks, Eagle Rays have flattened bodies with their mouths and gills on the underside.
Did you know, their skeletons are made entirely of cartilage, not bones, giving them a unique and flexible structure!
Stay tuned as we share more of the ocean creatures we are lucky enough to encounter in the beautiful oceans in Marlborough.
