Being home to an incredibly diverse range of environments, our area is a true tramper's paradise! Our staff are all passionate about the outdoors and often go out exploring, so here's some tips from us wise women:

Adele's TopTip: Know your limits! Working your way up increasing your skills and fitness ensures your safety and enjoyment.

Rachel's TopTip: Do your research! The internet is a great source for trip information, user reviews and tips. Or come in/ring/email and talk to us!

Marijn's TopTip: Make sure you have the appropriate gear for the trip you have planned and always be prepared for sudden changes in the weather! (Crowded House wrote a song about this you know ;)

Aaaahh Golden bay... Our beautiful neighbor.. So many wonderful spots to visit! Did you know:

- When you visit Cape Farewell and follow the cliffs to the right for about 10 minutes you will have a brilliant look at Farewell Spit curling away from you!

- When you get to Wharariki Beach 'the rock' is right there, but it will shift into position and look like you know it from Windows10 when you walk to the left side. As beautiful and tempting as it looks, please don't go swimming here, the currents are very strong and dangerous!

- Seals love playing around in these rockpools and even though they look cuddly and cute, they are wild animals and you should keep 20m distance, especially in pup season (which is now!)

Finally! After a week of suspense and vague, blurry sightings these lucky duckies on board Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle's Dominator were able to make a positive ID on the unknown creature, and we can now confirm it was indeed a MERMAID at Split Apple Rock! No one was more surprised than Skipper Mike to find this mystical creature of beauty sitting on the rock, wowing the crowd with her striking appearance and gracious charm. She has since disappeared but we managed to secure this footage!
