Double hook ups are nice but learning to walk in our mountain valleys enjoying the scenes and not caring about catching fish is better

The mayflies lift as the soft snow falls, cycles of life sometimes impede each other. In this case, the trout benefits from the mayfly's wings being snowballed back to the surface film for a second helping of its abundant food source. A rare occurrence to observe.
In turn, the late spring snowfall will lade the South Island mountains keeping the water running at optimal temperatures throughout the summer months for all aquatic life to thrive in the high country rivers, as another flow cycle continuum of growth and harvest plays out. Which affects the algae that the mayflies eat to the food on our dinner plates. Observing nature in a multitude of weather conditions and perspectives will only help better protect such places in the future.

The busiest winter in the mountains for me has led to a longing anticipation to get back into the river valleys, the season is almost here and I'm as eager as ever for everything flyfishing has to offer. Not long now until we will be sighting fishing on the warm, longer days that the backcountry season brings.
I can not wait, See you soon!
