📸 H&S training day for some of the team's walking guides, including the breathtaking Bobs Cove and Glenorchy Lagoon.

🚶‍♂️ During the training, the team explored various aspects of safety, discussing best practices and strategies to ensure the wellbeing of both our guests and team. It was a great opportunity for these guides to exchange ideas and learn from each other's experiences. Our guides are dedicated to increasing their knowledge of the area's fascinating history, fauna, flora, and birdlife, ensuring the best possible customer experience.

🔬 One highlight of the day was discovering the new trapping system that utilises cutting-edge technology. This innovative system not only captures pests but also uses advanced imaging to verify that it's not a bird (or human hand!) before taking any action. It's a major step forward in predator control, ensuring the safety of our ecosystem.

Over 150 years ago, hundreds of Chinese gold miners embarked on a courageous journey to the West Coast. Their unwavering diligence and wisdom not only shaped local development but also laid the foundation for a pioneering friendship between China and New Zealand. The echoes of their stories resonate through time, weaving together the rich cultural heritage strands of the Ross-Totara goldfields.

Lake Wombat, Franz Josef
Termed a kettle lake, Lake Wombat was formed by the melting of a huge piece of ice left amidst glacial debris about 9000 years ago. A perfect spot for some bird watching and beautiful mirror lake views.

MEET JANE 👉🏽

Jane's journey from Melbourne, Australia, to Queenstown almost 40 years ago is nothing short of magical. What started as a ski season adventure led to a love affair with the Kiwi paradise that she now calls home. 🎿❄️🌄

With a backpack full of travel experiences from around the world, Jane found her heart's place in Arrowtown, and she wouldn't trade it for anywhere else. 🌍🏡

Being a driver-guide comes naturally to Jane because it allows her to soak up the magical places in our area while sharing fascinating stories with her guests. Our seasonal wonderland ensures that every visit unveils a different side of the destination, making it a constant adventure. Jane also takes joy in learning about the diverse lives of her clients while showing them the sights. 🚗🗺️

But Jane's adventure doesn't stop there. She's still rocking the skis in winter and teeing off for a round of golf in summer. Hiking around our stunning mountain terrain is another favorite on Jane's out-of-office agenda. 🏌️‍♀️🏔️

When she's not exploring, her four children and four grandchildren keep her entertained. The grandkids even get the royal treatment – being picked up from preschool by their very own chauffeur (yes, that's Jane!). 🚐👧👦

MEET CASEY 👉🏽

Casey's story is one for the books, literally! He's been based in Queenstown for over two decades, but his journey has taken him far and wide. 🗺️

Before settling in Queenstown, he roamed the globe as a driver/guide with Dragoman Camping Expeditions, exploring 25 countries and driving across multiple continents. And here's the kicker – he lived outside for almost a decade! Now that's a rare feat. 🏕️🌍

Born and bred in New Zealand, Casey's childhood visits to Queenstown for skiing left a mark. In 2002, while taking a break from East Africa, he wandered into Otago and decided to make it his home. 🏔️❄️

Since then, he's dived headfirst into the world of tourism and customer service, with roles in real estate and as a driver-guide on ski fields and backcountry 4WD tours. He's not just a senior driver-guide; he's the man with the plan when it comes to customer service, logistics, health and safety, operations, and business development. 🚗📈

Casey's passion for the South Island, its people, and its history is infectious. When he's not behind the wheel, you'll find him in the backcountry, fly-fishing by a secluded river, or hunting for fresh powder on the ski fields. This man loves history, geology, and cooking over a campfire, and he's eager to share his passion for the region with all his guests. 🔥🏞️

MEET MARCELO 👉🏽

Marcelo's journey to New Zealand is nothing short of an adventure in itself. Originally hailing from Chile, he's always been a people person, and his love for social interaction and travel led him to the perfect path – tourism. 🧳🌆

In 2006, after earning a degree in Tourism, he embarked on a European adventure, setting up base in Barcelona before calling Andorra home for four incredible years. But you know what they say about wanderlust – it strikes when you least expect it! So, off he went to America, traveling around the States for six memorable months. 🌎🗺️

Fast forward to 2010, and Marcelo landed in the enchanting land of New Zealand, and he's never looked back. Now, 13 years in, he's just as passionate about this paradise as the day he arrived. He thrives on showing our customers around this breathtaking slice of heaven. 🏔️🚐
