What is the Trekking Leader Program and the Rock Leader Program?
These 6-week programs are your fast-track to outdoor leadership! A focused, streamlined version of our Adventure Guide Program, these courses specialise in Trekking or Rock Climbing. You'll master group management, guiding techniques, and risk assessment while exploring epic landscapes. Whether you're hiking through rugged trails or scaling iconic rock faces, you'll go from learner to leader in no time. On the ground in Patagonia! 🏔️🏕️ It's been a full on first month in El Chaltén; spending time in the outdoors, completing a Wilderness Advanced First Aid Course, trying all the local sweet treats and most importantly, exploring new landscapes. Planning, preparing and participating in different activities whether it's a multi-day hike, group meals or weekend adventures, there is plenty on the go for everyone.

Our program Ambassador Jocelyn Glennie has been capturing what's been going on out there and snagged some epic pictures, with blog posts to follow.

We recently introduced another date for our New Zealand Adventure Guide Program (12 weeks) 📆 21 May 2025 - 14 Aug 2025. Same activities, same locations, less crowds. During the New Zealand Winter season you'll spend your weeks hiking, rock climbing and learning in the outdoors, completing your NZOIA Bush and Rock qualifications as well as a two day Avalanche Awareness Course.

Cooler days and dry weather make this time of year perfect for exploring the South Island; get excited to get out there! What are you waiting for?

Ever wondered what a week in Fiordland looks like? 📷🏕️ From camping at Lake Marian, to hiking up the Falls Creek track and enjoying the Milford Sound Cruise, the weather was amazing and the students put their hiking skills to the test on various terrain types. It's the perfect location to get a gauge for what New Zealand has to offer in terms of landscapes, trails and local flora & fauna.

"Another chapter completed. The past two weeks, we’ve been in Bandipur learning more about climbing and safety. It’s been so much fun, and we’ve learned a lot. Our days started with about a 1.5-hour hike to the climbing wall, then 4-5 hours of climbing, and then hiking back. Such a beautiful trail with views of the Manaslu and Annapurna ranges (where the next adventure awaits…).

We’ve practiced building and taking down anchors on our own and tried multi-pitch climbing. We’ve been practicing anchors since we were climbing in Hattiban, so it’s been exciting to do it for real. A bit scary to do it on our own the first time, but it gets easier each time. I feel more confident on the wall now than when we started the program. It’s so great to see how everyone is progressing.

Looking forward to the next adventure, which will be trekking in the Annapurna 🏔️”

The Work & Train New Zealand Crew has hit the ground running. Straight into learning new skills with Real Country; from how to change a tyre, how to shoot a rifle, about the farm dogs and how they work, and about general outdoor handy skills. ⛰️🌎 This a truly unique Kiwi experience and lets the crew become aware of general outdoors safety, skills and the environment they will be in for the next 24 weeks. Thanks Real Country for having us!

Learning technical rope skills in Nepal! 🧗‍♀️📍Everyone has been pushing their skills, learning new techniques and climbing new crags. It's awesome to see how quickly skills develop when they spend longer periods outdoors with skilled instructors showing them the way. Not only are these skills useful for recreational climbing, but also for future rock climbing guiding work. Keep it up team! 🇳🇵🗺️
