COMMUNITY NOTICE:

Traffic Delays on Thursday 27th February Wainui one way bridge - 0915am - 2.45pm.

Drillmax, a contractor for WEL Networks have been contracted to lay a new power cable duct across Wainui Bridge, in Raglan on Thursday 27th. This is to increase the power supply to the upgraded waste water treatment plant.

The work will involve having a small hi-ab truck on the bridge lifting the cable cavity covers in the footpath while they install the ducting in sections.

Because it is a one-way bridge, there will be significant delays to traffic while this work gets done. Each section installation is expected take up to 10 minutes with traffic being held and then released.

Work will be done outside of peak traffic times between 9:15am and 2:45pm especially to allow for school traffic.

COMMUNITY NOTICE:

Putoetoe Walkway (southern walkway from the old coastguard building to the foot bridge) repairs and safety improvements.

Council Contractors will be repairing and making safety improvements to the footpath and seawall at the Putoetoe Walkway in Raglan.

This will mean that the walkway south of the walk bridge to the boat ramp will be closed for the next 4 months starting on Monday 24th February, while this work is done.

The northern end of the walkway from the walk bridge to Bow Street jetty will remain open.

For some of this time, the boat ramp at the southern end will be closed and fenced off.

Mānawatia a Matariki 🌟⭐️🌟 a beautiful exhibition open daily until Sunday 7th July 10am - 2pm at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre

🌟 Mānawatia a Matariki! 🌟 From June 28th to July 7th, head to the Raglan Old School Arts Centre for a special exhibition celebrating Matariki ki Whaingaroa 2024. This year's festival, "Matariki ki Tua o ngā Whetū" (Matariki of Endless Possibilities), honors indigenous knowledge and showcases the incredible talents of local Māori artists.

Among the featured artists are three wāhine Māori who have dedicated over 30 years to the art of weaving within our community: Ebony Waitere, Gwyn (Erangi) Brodie, and Rangi Kereopa. These women are members of Ngā Hua o Te Rito (Fruits from Fibre/Heart of the Flax), a Charitable Trust and weaving collective established in 2003 that represents marae from Taharoa to Te Pùaha o Waikato and Ngāti Whātua, Ōrākei.
