Playcentre is a family entered childhood movement and children can attend from birth to 6years. Our centre is equipped with stimulating materials & provides children with opportunities for creative development & companionship. Playcentre recognises that children reach their full potential more successfully when care-givers understand their children's development and take part in the learning proce

ss. Our Centre is a licensed Early Childhood service that helps meet the needs of parents and children. For Parents, our Playcentre is a good opportunity to meet other parents in our community and integrate in a friendly supporting environment through courses, discussions and workshops etc. The Playcentre co-operative also provides a good place for those who wish to take part in the decisions affecting their children and learn new skills. For Children, our Playcentre gives them a chance to learn physical and social skills at their own pace. All equipment is varied to give them an opportunity to experience learning in different areas that may not be available at home. Rahotu Playcentre also offers a great "Transition to School" programme with Rahotu School

Today the weather gave our playcentre a chance to try out our new blinds around our sandpit! This means even with the wet and windy weather the tamariki are sheltered and warmer while playing! A big thanks to Dobson marquee for an amazing job!

For our final day of term 3 (wow that went fast!) we had a shared Kai with three stories and enjoyed playing on our pairate ship (playground) ☺️

We now have the school holidays for two weeks and our first session back will be Wednesday the 16th October. We welcome all new members to join us for term 4!

Friday at playcentre! Today the sun was shining ☀️
The children made yellow playdough today a creative activity for all ages to enjoy, moulding using tools and a great sensory activity.

The children also enjoyed playing on the new swing set at playcentre today with a baby swing a standard swing and a net swing this gives all our ages a area to play and be enjoyed a big thank you to TBL Builders for building this for our tamariki.

Today we had teddy bears picnic 🧺 🧸 the kids enjoyed some home baked goods and brought a favourite stuffed friend along for the day! The sun was shining for us today a great day!! 😊

Today we had a lovely visit from Tots can Trot equine rescue and services who brought two ponies for the children to ride on as part of our “Animal week”

The children loved having the ponies at playcentre and what an awesome experience it was seeing them build up confidence to ride the ponies! Laughter and smiles all around ☺️

Big big thank you to all whanau who supported our Dad's Pies fundraiser!!

Together we raised $706 to put towards upgrading our soft fall area to ensure our tamariki have a safe environment to play.

The wet weather didn't stop our tamariki having fun today! We made a fort in out library corner, had some fun with playdough and created some starry sky art to celebrate Puanga.

The Easter bunny surprised us at playcentre today with an Easter egg hunt. We made our own baskets to collect the eggs and searched high and low for them!

We are very pleased to say our centre will be starting again today Friday (4rd February) 9:00am-12pm - woohoo!

We have plenty of spaces available for our Friday session and would love to welcome some new families to the team.

We had such a fun day at playcentre today decorating biscuits (and eating them) making Christmas tree art and forming sand castles in the sandpit.
