Day 3 Rotorua to Auckland to Queenstown

Wow that was an early start. Headed off by 5.30am. I think I may need a holiday after this week of early starts!

I feel like a mother duck checking on my babies constantly counting to nake sure I have all 7 accounted for. We got to thr airport with 8 mins to spare for bag drop and then had to race through security still made it with plenty of time though.

The flight to Queenstown was fab, honestly the landscape down here is next level and it blows my mind how it looks. I had a window seat so had amazing views.

Met William our South Island driver, seems like a nice guy only been doing the tole 6 months so I may have to school him lol

We had the afternoon free to explore after checking into the Crown Plaza. My view is spectacular!!

Akanksha and I went into town had lunch and a wander around. I have to laugh they are all rugged up in scarfs and jackets and I'm in a t shirt and still hot!

That evening we went to Skyline for luging and dinner. Spectacular views from up there watching the sunset.

Was perfect end to a long day!

Day 2 of WOW tour was in Rotorua. We headed to breakfast at Third Place and then headed off to Te Puia. The girls loved their experiences here, did the tour, cultural experience followed by lunch which never disappoints. Given a few are vegetarian they were blown away by the delicious salads on offer. Even today that has been their favorite meal.

Next stop was a trip to Mountain Jade for pounamu shopping followed by Farm show and Farm tour at Agrodome. They loved the love and tour and it's wonderful to see the sheer joy on their faces being up close and feeding the sheep and alpacas.

Next stop was home to pack for my whirlwind South Island tour. I'm not driving the South Island, purely tour leader so will be nice to sit back and enjoy the views!

So I've taken on a new role for 9 days which us that of tour leader for a wonderful group of ladies from India who experience travel through a company known as WOW which is for single woman or woman whose partners don't like to travel. So it's a safe environment to travel with like minded women.

On Monday I picked them up in Auckland and was Tour Leader as well as driver and we headed to Waitomo first and then Hobbiton. I have never been through Waitomo caves myself only the private ones in the area. I was pleasantly surprised. If you are on a time schedule the 45 min tour allows you to see the glow worms as well as Stelimite and Stelitite formations. They work it well having several groups in there at once crossing each other's paths.

Next stop was Hobbiton. We all know that although I haven't watched the movies or read the books I still find it charming and simply beautiful. Everything always looks amazing, such attention to detail.

So Monday was a long day but really enjoyable.

Today is Barrie's last day. He and Gloria are moving to Auckland after being with us for 3.5 years to be closer to family. He has been an absolute trooper for us with one sick day in all that time!

He does transfers for our local renal dialysis patients here in Rotorua and they are going to miss him dearly and gave him a farewell card with beautiful words in it today.

On Sunday we took Barrie and his wife Gloria out for dinner to wish them well.

We hope you actually get to retire now Barrie and enjoy some down time. We are going to miss you x

Had a fabulous day out yesterday with Marci and Kevin and friends from America. Met them at the Port of Tauranga off a cruise ship and brought them over to Rotorua for the day. They had fun at Skyline Rotorua Iiplining and luging and then we headed off to Te Puia for the Te Ra tour. Ended our day with a walk through the bush to show them Okere Falls.

We have had the most incredible day out today!

Alan decided to take our office girl's children to ZORB this morning for a new experience and they had an absolute blast. They have never done it before even though they have grown up here. Their smiles said it all at the end of each run. Thanks ZORB team u made their day l.

While the troupes were there Carleen shot off got a picnic lunch sorted for everyone as well as towels etc and packed our bags.

We were headed to Lake Rotoiti for the afternoon to experience a lake cruise on Pure Cruise Airstream boat. We are looking at putting together a new package to launch to our Cruise Ship passengers so we needed to test it out

Last day before the girls go back to school tomorrow and it was perfect.

We ate, swam, waded into gloworm caves (yes gloworms during the day!), explored other hidden caves, jumped out of trees, stopped for a swim at the hot pools and their famous twice fried hot chips, (only accessible by boat) and finished up at the hot water stream which has a wee dam in it so you can soak.

The most perfect day to end the holidays for all the kids and a day in the sun for the mums after all their hard work over the last few weeks ... thanks Sarah and Helen.

Definitely hit up Pure Cruise for a lake tour. They have a shared ride experience that goes daily in the morning to see the lake views, gloworms and hot water beach and every afternoon at 2.30pm head over to the hot pools.

Or you could get 18 of your closest friends together and have 3 hours of private touring swimming, eating, drinks on the Airstream boat. Great value. www.purecruise.co.nz

Day 6, Taupo to Wellington.
Wow, I now see why it's nicked name windy Wellington.
But we enjoyed the ride down, a ride to the top of Mt Ruapehu on the Sky Waka. 1st time seeing snow for a few of the group members. Then on to Ohakune for the famous chocolate éclairs, then we drove onto Wellington, and wow was Tom fighting to keep the van on the road. But we got to the hotel safe and sound..... Day 5 to be continued tomorrow.

It is Tour season and so the fun begins. Day 3 of a 14 day tour , sitting at Huka Falls River cruise. An amazing weather. Day 1 was Auckland to Hobbiton to Rotorua, Day 2 they did sites around Rotorua. Today, day 3 , Taupo, morning on the Chris Jolly Rock Cruise, then a stop at the honeyhive, and a now a gentle Cruise on the mighty waikato river to see Huka Falls.... keep watching for more adventures to come.

I recently had cause to use your service from Auckland airport to my home near Cambridge.

This was a service arranged through our corporate travel provider.

Just wanted to say that your service was excellent.

Aaron was a very good driver and had an engaging, professional, customer-centric manner. The impacts of a significantly delayed flight were totally mitigated by his high level of service.

This was particularly appreciated after receiving very poor service from a different provider who transported myself and a colleague up to Auckland 10 days prior.

I have also provided this feedback to our corporate travel agency.

We were lucky enough to attend the Matariki dinner tonight held in a marquee at the Rotorua Airport as part of the business MEETINGS event held in Rotorua. Entertainment was amazing from local singers including Nikau Grace to NZ Artist Holly Smith. The Rotorua NZ Business team have knocked the Events out of the park this week and all in attendance have been in awe. Tonight was no different... amazing. We were the first in NZ to see this amazing drone light show over the airspace at Rotorua Airport. It was breathtaking with lots shedding tears with how emotional it was. I can't show it all as the video was over 11 mins but here is a snippet. If you can make it to the Lakefront on Matariki to watch don't miss it.

So turns out one of our team members has had a bit of fun over the weekend creating some content for our page. Check out Aaron's work below!
