“This is a TRULY AMAZING EXPERIENCE! The whole tour; right from bookings, pick up, briefings, equipment, friendly knowledgeable guides ... EVERYTHING was perfect. We were slightly apprehensive about being in the kayak in the dark but we needn’t have been. This is a truly magical experience and one that my partner and I will never forget. We can’t recommend it enough!!”

“I couldn’t recommend the Glowworm Kayaking enough - this is a truly magical experience. This adventure is the best way to take some time out and escape the everyday. We cruised along the still lake and spent time in each cave taking in the beautiful glowworms, I have never seen them so close. There are opportunities to stargaze and enjoy hot chocolate during the trip as well, and the guides are laid back but so knowledge - big shoutout to Ally! I can’t wait to go again someday soon.”

She introduces you to the world of worm-science inside the little caves of Okareka Lake. “Can I give 6 stars ?! Amazing night, clear sky full of stars and satellites. Our guides kitted us out with life jackets, rain jackets, lamps and water boots, then took us through the safety briefing before we headed out on the water. We paddled around the lake hearing the history and how the caves were formed. The guide pushed our kayaks into the caves so we could look up and see all of the glow worms and there were so many. Absolutely incredible to see and everyone just kept saying WOW!!! Even got a wee hot choccy to keep us warm. Amazing experience, amazing guides. Honestly ready to go back again the following day.“

“This was a fantastic experience. The glow worm grottoes were beautiful, but so was paddling out on the lake in the moonlight under the stars. The guides were friendly and informative, the wet and cold weather gear was appreciated! This was a small group experience that didn’t feel over commercialized - we highly recommend it.”
