Final morning in Whanganui - visits to Durie Hill towers, elevator and tunnel. The new up grade to the tunnels lighting is very cool.
We then visited Bason Botanical Gardens.

Whanganui are holding a heritage weekend, we attended the street parade this afternoon and Paddle Steamer Waimarie did a Sunset Gin Jazz cruise in 1920s theme

Looking back on memories.
In February 2018 Dave and Carol flew with Alan Beck from Eltham, over Lake Rotokare then followed the Whanganui River up to Bridge To Nowhere, over to Aotuhia Station - Bridge To Somewhere and back. It was about 2 weeks after cyclone Gita.
Very interesting to see all the places we visit from the air. If you have been with us up Whanganui River Road, walked Whangamomona Road etc you may be interested in this post. Captions with photos, not necessarily in order of the flight

Normally Santa is resting in July but not next July, he has been invited to Greytown for their annual Mid Winter Christmas
We have secured accommodation and will be running a 4 day, 3 night tour 18th-21st July. Visits to Cape Palliser Lighthouse, Lake Ferry Hotel, Seal colony, Aotearoa Stonehenge packaged with great food and Christmas festival all included.

Experiencing an incredible day with a remarkable group, we embarked on an adventure to Pipiriki, where we had 4 day trippers and collected two hikers from the Matemateaonga Track for an exhilarating Bridge To Nowhere jetboat ride. Despite the forecasted rain, we were fortunate to have a dry day, allowing for a pleasurable journey. Observing numerous canoes on the river during school holidays, we discovered a slumbering possum in the rafters at Kawana Mill, causing quite a surprise. We also explored various tourist attractions along the Whanganui River Road, and we extend our gratitude to Ken and the team at Whanganui River Adventures for their exceptional service. Lastly, the jetboat spin was an additional highlight that the group relished, and we will share a separate video showcasing that thrilling experience.

Whanganui River Adventures

Drove out to Kohi Saddle to transport a couple to Matemateaonga Track in the morning, with foggy valleys and mountains clearing up for the return trip. Tried out some macro photography with spider webs adorned with dew droplets.

The New Plymouth Tramping Club's 50th Anniversary celebration continued with a scenic walk along the old Whangamomona Road, offering two distance options of 18km and 20km. Blessed with a great day weather wise was a bonus.
We managed logistics for them by transporting participants to the starting point at Aotuhia Station and picking them up at Whangamomona.

Saturday 5th November - Northern Explorer Plateau train trip Video is train going over one of the viaducts near Mangaweka Firstly we would like to thank the 20 people who came along today. We know it was a big day but possible as a day trip. Please feel free to share you "shot of the day" and/or feedback in comments Secondly we would like to apologies to those affected by the van problems in Palmerston North. We know situations out of our control do happen and unfortunately it happened today. Also thanks to those who helped with "Google" reading handbook, taking phone messages between drivers etc Thirdly you may have seen a post a couple of days ago where 2 people had to cancel at short notice and we tried to fill it again. A big Shout Out to these wonderful people as they gifted their places. This is an amazing gesture and when the recipient's were offered this is was like they had won a lottery. All the best as you face a worrying time and hopefully good karma will go around for you 🥰
