Tuhingmata collaborated with Te Awhiorangi. Two haka groups initiated the Tuituia 70.3 Ironman Banquet Dinner. A spectacular presentation ensued. The groups consist of students 13 to 17 years old from Taupo-nui-a-Tia College and adults who are past students. Tutors Matua Snow, Whaea Dinny, and Teiria led the groups.

Our students (Taupō Primary School, Mountview School, Waipahihi Primary, Taupo Intermediate, St Patrick School, Hilltop School) have achieved something truly remarkable by participating in the powhiri/welcome ceremony for athletes from 119 countries, and we take great pride in this accomplishment. Matua Snow's dedication to training them is commendable. The ceremony was also honored by the presence of guests from Kona, Hawaii, the birthplace of Ironman, with whom the Maori people share a meaningful cultural bond as their older cousins.

The Chris Jolly Cruise, a stage rehearsal for the Ironman Tuituia Banquet Dinner, preceded our enjoyable hosting of BACKROADS guests at the picturesque Kinloch Lodge that evening. We were impressed by the lodge's outstanding acoustics, which made our performance truly memorable.

Mrs. R Te Pou, our ninety-three year old aunt, participates in a training session on the waka Te Rewarewa, Kaihautu Snow Rameka, Nukuhau Taupo, in preparation for the World Series 70.3 Ironman Race 2024 as a member of the wahine waka crew.
