Evening Cultural Experience & Hangi Dinner 🌿

Be welcomed onto our place with a traditional Powhiri (welcoming ceremony) pull up a log, and view your kai (dinner) being revealed. Your dinner is a traditional hangi (meal cooked in the earth) prepared lovingly by our whanau (family) for you to enjoy.

The hangi is followed by a Māori cultural concert.
It is our pleasure to entertain and entice your senses in a way that is educational, informative, and enlivening.

A little bit about us and what we do.

Kia Ora, Ko Geoff Rameka (Snow) ahau.
My wife Dinny and I are the founders of our small family run business based in Taupō, Ngati Tuwharetoa. With the help of our daughter, Teiria (our koretake social media person 👀😂) and wider whanau, we are able to do what we love to do.

At the haka shop, we cater to all things kapa haka & kaupapa Māori - Hangi dinner & concerts. Kapa haka tutoring, kakahu and resources. Weaving workshops and muka. Guided hikoi around our region. Pohiri, hui & ceremonies, entertainment and education... you name it, we probably do it 😅👍🏼 Your one-stop haka shop!

Matariki kainga hokia ✨️
The theme for this year's matariki celebrations. To return to the place/s and people you call home to reflect and plan for the year ahead.

We had the privilege of performing for our community at the brand new, beautiful Ātea created by our local carvers in celebration of te tau hou Māori, ko Matariki ✨️

We love giving back to our Taupō community by doing what we do. Through story telling, waiata & performance, we hope to leave you feeling moved & inspired. And maybe even wanting more 🤞🏼

Our page has been inactive for a while now, but we're making a slow but steady come back whanau 😅

Life has been extremely busy to say the least.
