Final day. βœ…

Juniors and Seniors: Today the juniors and seniors combined to do their olympic events together. Questions that were asked that no one was prepared for:

- Where are the olympics held this year?
- Who was the first olympic gold medalist
- Who is Kurt Angle?
- Which Kiwi icon won the 2004 Triathlon
- How many gold medals did NZ win at the last olympics?

Some google searching for you whanau but all I can say was that the kids were on today, beautiful day to be out and about (siiikeeee, it rained), running for gold, throwing for gold, winning the gold, gold gold gold. Few energiser activities this morning and then to top the afternoon off, some lovely baking activities. We had a blast this holidays. A big thank you to our staff for the mahi over the holidays. Shoutout to Ashleigh and Kery for stepping into the senior supervisor role, huge happy birthday to Hoani on the first week of holidays and a special shoutout to our kaumātua Tim who put smiles on some kids faces. Till next time.

Day 9 Done βœ…

Juniors: Juniors today had a bit of a treat waiting for them but first of all had to do the mahi. Let me explain this one. Juniors had to do some amazing fairy bread lamingtons today and because they did so well, there treat was that they got to join in on some extra fun which hopefully tired them out tonight. They got to mix and mingle with the seniors and their activities with hunger ball. How goood, then this afternoon we had them enjoy their treats and indulge in some fruit skewers they made, and enjoy some pasty made by the seniors.

Seniors: Seniors did hunger ball this morning to burn the energy as they were all eager and excited, followed up by a big break and then after lunch did their baking activities and to top if off, managed to get out under the sun for some afternoon on the playground. Good job seniors.

Final day tomorrow, its the Olympics. bring your runners.

Day 8 done βœ…

Juniors: Today the juniors did baking, clip n climb and foam pit in the morning. Then for the afternoon we had the lovely Leah in to help our Juniors and the Papamoa kids with gymnastics. It was so much fun, kids loved it and Leah said they were so well behaved. The children have been very amazing over the last 3 days and we as leaders can see them trying so hard to get amongst the action but also showing their best behaviour when it comes to doing activities.

Seniors: Today the seniors did cupcake wars and made some delicious treats. Shoutout to Kery who has been doing the mahi while Ashleigh is away, we appreciate the effort you both put in into running your programme. Parents need to decide who won the cupcake wars by liking the post, and liking the photo.

Juniors: today juniors had their super Mario day. This morning we did our arts and crafts, and also made our Goomba desserts as well as some pin the tail on the donkey or pin the moustache on the Mario. Same same. Hahaha this afternoon we did our craft activity as well as finish off our dessert cups from the morning. Another good day in the junior programme.

Seniors: seniors this morning did their baking and masks, played a bit of sports while the weather was still shining bright. Seniors had an early lunch and then shot off to the movies to watch Inside out 2. Amazing movie for both programmes over the last 2 days.

Day 6 βœ…:

Juniors were at the movies today, and they were so good! Never have we ever sat through a whole movie where our kids were so well behaved. Please let your tamariki know how lucky we were to have them with us today. This morning because of the rain, we had to stay in and not go out and play at the playground before the activities but we did some face masks, some charades, morning energisers and then headed off to the movies.

Seniors were in the center today and they were glow in the dark. They did some glow in the dark activities in the movie room where it was blacked out for the activity. A few other activities and some baking for their day to finish off their Monday programme.

What a day.

Juniors and Seniors combined there days today to do a Pyjama day. A lot of tired kids but a lot of kids also participating. This morning we made mugs and nachos. The kids did really well and some of their mugs turned out amazing. Nachos were okay hahaha. This afternoon was more of a relaxed afternoon as the kids were awfully tired heading into the weekend. Huge shoutout to Tim and Ashleigh for doing the hard yards with the cups while Hoani yelled instructions from the rooftops.

Also happy last shoutout to our Eden who returns to study this upcoming semester. Eden has worked in our Programme over 2 years and has supervised the Junior Programme as well as supervised the center during ASC Programme. We are happy to see Eden continue her studies and wish her all the best.

Day 4 βœ…

Juniors: man what a day for our juniors today. They did an amazing job with their listening ears. Much better than yesterday. Kids were on their best behaviour and followed leaders instructions from start till finish. So much so that a few of our kids decided to fall asleep during lunch. But all that climbing and exploring would do that to you. Well done koutou.

Seniors: all I can say is the baking looked so good and the kids really participated in doing the activities as well as cleaning as they went and demonstrating some cool baking techniques that even the leaders didn’t know about! Way to show em seniors.

Day 3 done and dusted.

Juniors: Pizza, Dessert, and fear factor

Juniors were chiefs, troopers, and explorers. We made pizzas, made desserts and did some fun little activities before lunch where we got to enjoy our treats before doing the fear factor challenge this afternoon. We did the blindfold food challenge, we had 7 different things to try. The kids were so brave and even snuck a couple of Jalapeno in there. Well done juniors.

Seniors: Memorial Park and Mini Golf.

From what was shared with the kids. Apparently they all got the following:

- Hole in 1
- Faster than Usain Bolt
- Leaders had some special treats (No treats for the kids).

Kids were on their best behaviour today and they managed to be good sports vs each other out and about with the mini golf. Shoutout to the bus driver and Senior Supervisor Tim and Ash for the extra effort today.

Juniors are out of the center tomorrow, please make sure they are equipped with a packed lunch and covered shoes as we will be hitting Te Puna Quarry.

Day 2:

Juniors: Welcome Bay Hot pools
Kids were excited and eager to go and try out a new coast kids spot, the welcome bay hot pools. This morning the juniors made some lip gloss, as well as some games outside on the playground. Then inside for an early lunch and then changed and ready to hit the welcome bay hot pools. Kids managed to get alot of time in the pool and enjoyed the afternoon. Once finished, we headed back to the center and along the way, the children fell asleep. Some managed to stay awake but overall an exceptional day. (Lip gloss to be given out tomorrow)

Seniors: Fear Factor Challenge.
We will let the photos do the talking, don't want to spoil it for the juniors tomorrow but let the record state that all the kids were grossed out and did the challenges.
Fear factor challenges in the morning, then followed by pizza making in the afternoon. :)

Day 1:
Juniors: Minecraft Day
Seniors: Welcome Bay Hot pools

Kia ora tatou,

Week 1 of our holidays kicked off with a minecraft day for the juniors.

This morning we did minecraft activities which involved a scavenger hunt, and some art and wordfind activities. Kids managed to get out into the warm sun and stretch the legs. This afternoon we made our minecraft cookies and our Creeper art. Well done kids.

Seniors caught the warm bug today and managed to get into the welcome bay hot pools this afternoon. All was well. This morning they made some mini hot dogs, did a few energiser and ice breaker games and then had an early lunch before heading off to welcome bay pools.

Kia ora whanau. We are back in to the 2nd week of term 2 for the year. This week starting today we tested what is called a β€œbrain box”. A brain box is:

β€œTo teach principles of Electronics and Electricity. Experiments and kit building with ease, practically no tools needed. The easy to handle components snap together to create a huge number of different circuits on the base board. Many hours of fun while learning. The process of actually building the circuits provides a real understanding of how circuits work.”

One of our After School Kids Isaac tested it out today as a pilot to trial how well it went and it was a great learning experience for us at coast kids. Well done Isaac 😁

Ahiahi Marie everyone.

Yesterday we said goodbye to our Lily. Some awesome highlights about her as she ascends to her next chapter in life, making the move up to Auckland.

- Lily is a kind caring person whose focus was around making sure your kids had a smile on their face and were safe.
- Lily provided a safe space for the kids.
- Lily comes to work every shift with an attitude for gratitude, something we see as leaders, and the kids saw as well.
- Lily’s dedication and efforts to her craft was a key success of the programme whenever she was working.
- Lily put in extra effort to making sure not only the kids were happy but also the leaders. She picked up the pace when we couldn’t and that shows true commitment to who she truly is.
- Lily is loving, kind, caring, and an ear to listen, a heart to comfort and a smile to adhere to.

There’s so many more things, but to Lily, thank you and see you again soon. All the best our Lily. Everyone deserves a Lily in their lives πŸ’›

Thaaaaaank you. That’s a wrap.

Shoutout to all our holiday programme leaders for doing the mahi and getting the treats. A huge thank you to Ashleigh and Tina for running our senior holiday programme. Shoutout to our kids for being the best kids ever. For giving the activities a go and taking a step outside of your comfort zones. Truly grateful to be in a time where we have so much diversity in terms of cultures and all walks of life. This isn’t over and we hope to see you back for our winter holiday programme. Until then all the best heading into term 2.

Mamma Mia Pizza-ria it’s amaaazing.

Last day of the Holiday programme and it’s about more chilled today. Kids are inside but so is the fun.

Juniors: giving it their best effort this morning decided to go to the local park for some leaf gathering. Kids with their shoes on and their brains made the trek to Morland fox park to collect and grab some leaves before coming back and making our paper lanterns.

Seniors: pizza making this morning which involves a lot of prep time, lucky for us we have amazing prep hands! Many hands make light work. Kids also did some sports this morning as well as putting the toppings on their pizzas before lunch. πŸ™‚

Kids last day has been so chill and we are looking to finish strong. Nga mihi team ❀️

Shoutout to the juniors for being soldiers this afternoon as we had a technical difficulty and decided to change up the shooting activity with the nerf guns to an activity shooting nerf guns at each other. On the other hand the Anzac biscuts were good! Well done Moses!!! πŸ˜‚

Seniors finished off their trip at McClarens falls doing frisbee golf and then headed to the park for lunch and some free time before heading back to the center! πŸ™‚

Week 2 day 8.

Juniors: Morena everyone, juniors are keeping warm in the sun and inside today. The weather is so good for our juniors to be paying tribute to those special people on ANZAC day, a great reminder on why it is important to respect people who sacrificed for the country. A huge way to start off the morning by doing baking and crafts. Shoutout to Moses in the kitchen for the first time today. It could go good or could go great but either way, he’s got this!!

Seniors are on tour. They are at McClarens Falls doing frisbee golf! A good rerun of last year, hopefully our seniors are better off this time this year πŸ˜‚ we lost a few frisbees to the woods but all in all should be a good day!

Day done, day won.

Seniors finished off their afternoon for the day with some galaxy desserts. Extra points for the seniors for saving us some. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ even managed to save the leaders some but they don’t want any. Good fun activity to finish us off for the seniors before their last out of center trip tomorrow.

Juniors were tired and had used all their energy in an attempt to escape the maze. Kids cheated and could climb under the walls (no good mate) to complete the exit! Shoutout to the juniors who actually gave it a go! Without having to climb over or under! We finished off our day by finding a nice lakeside playground with a lunch area before making our way back to the center πŸ™‚

Juniors finished off their afternoon with facepainting and enjoying their yummy treats they made this morning. Shout out to Eden on the tools in the kitchen the. Pulling double duty and doing the face painting with Lily. Much appreciated ladies!! We did conversation cards to finish off the afternoon and tbh, half the kids didn’t know how to answer any of the questions. Some of you parents may need to ask your child if they went to Disneyland because all the kids raised their hand when asked if they had been πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

Juniors: today is our Disney themed day. This morning our juniors are doing melting beads, baking micky mouse cupcakes and some art. The kids are well behaved this morning and are stuck into it!! This afternoon will be fun also. Shoutout to our crew for getting the kids prepped and ready to go. It’s a full on day but the sun is out! We are happy and grateful πŸ™‚

Seniors: they head over to Arataki park for a run around before the movies. Kids are ready to go and have been utilising the scooters at the park as well as basketball. Movies this afternoon so hopefully the kids are conked out by movie time.

Day 5 βœ…

No morning post, we’d thought we would do the 1 for the day. But boy oh boy, what a time to be alive.

We combined our activities this morning and this afternoon and had fun. This morning we made our jelly cups but froze them πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ this is planned cause now they are slushies!! Ran foam pit and used our playground next door to stretch the legs. We then got hit with the surprise quizzes to guess the coast kids ages of our leaders. We had a β€œcorrect” guess and guessed that Tim was 63 years young. Sheeeeeshhhhhh, we then had an early lunch.

This afternoon we had our wacky hair activity and even managed to make our cheeseburgers with the seniors. Kids have all this energy and ran up a storm before the afternoon activities started. It’s been a fun week and this is week 1 done of the autumn holiday programme.

Juniors: good evening parents, this is a message for your kids if they were in the junior programme today. Just a heads up, they all did the skate school and they were troopers. A lot of kids falling over, some you could say were ice skating, a couple kids also who done it before making us drivers look terrible on the road they way they were skating today! Kids enjoyed it along with their sushi this afternoon. Amazing effort from our juniors today!!!

Seniors: unfortunately no missing persons files reported, all kids made it back safely, a couple of πŸ’€ on the way back but the kids turned it on today like the sun after the storm. Amazing way to close out day 4.

Juniors: ding ding ding, we are making sushi this morning. Ours will be better than the seniors. (Shoutout to Lily, apologies to Renae. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) we got a game of freeze and melt going on and we have located our future baseball and softball players.

Seniors: don’t get lost that is all πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

They are off to Rotorua today to get lost in the maze. If they don’t come back you’ll know that either:

Shoutout to our seniors this afternoon for the concrete baking they made. (Somebody’s tooth was chipped.) πŸ˜– but awesome efforts given from the team to wrap up the seniors.

Juniors movie was quite long but the ratings were worth it. Apart from the horrible sound of plastic bottles being scrunched by the kids, and the undisclosed amount of times the kids needed to go to the bathroom, the kids had an amazing afternoon at the movies and were well behaved and managed!! Shout out to our bathroom dasher Tim with the in and out moves at the movies. Shout out to bayfair for hosting us and our walkthrough. A lot of faces turned when they saw us walk through πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Juniors: we have left for the park at Arataki to go and have some fun, burn some energy and have our lunch before going to the movies. Kids have been well behaved this morning, all excited and ready to watch Kung Fu Panda 4. Leaders are excited too hahaha.

Seniors: they are in the center today doing crafts and making some socks. (Check the pics). Seniors are into it and no problems at all. (Apart from the who’s got the best socks).

Day 2. Ahiahi Marie tatou. We got a day for both groups. So far so good.

Juniors: This morning the kids literally turned the center inside out, back to front. We had an Easter egg hunt. Fortunately it wasn’t free for all and kids had their instructions on one egg per child. Some kids tried to sneak the extra bunny but the leaders are too good and quick. We did the egg exchange, as well as some delicious baking that the leaders will enjoy (sorry juniors but thanks for the treatsπŸ₯°)

Seniors: some fun in the center this morning before heading over to the pools in papamoa for some swimming. Seniors have been good so far so we are excited for the set of photos coming in. Sushi this afternoon so the leaders are excited to eat that as well.
