Arapuni Swing Bridge in the Waikato region. Spanning the Waikato River, the bridge offers clear views of the Arapuni Dam and its surroundings.
Built in 1925 to provide access to the Arapuni Dam construction site. The dam, part of the Waikato River hydroelectric power scheme, was one of New Zealand’s earliest large-scale hydroelectric projects. The bridge allowed workers and materials to cross the river safely during the dam’s construction and remains an important historical landmark.
A great spot for walking, photography, or simply taking in the peaceful environment.
