We have two boats in Milford Sound / Piopiotahi: Mitre Peak I and Mitre Peak II. They are both about 20 metres in length and were designed to get our guests closer to the shoreline of the fiord. Milford Sound / Piopiotahi is the northernmost fiord in Te Wāhipounamu / Fiordland National Park. Covering 2.6 million hectares of mountain, lake, fiord and rainforest, Fiordland National Park became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986. The park contains rocks, plants and animals from 80 million years ago, when Aotearoa New Zealand was part of the ancient supercontinent, Gondwana.

In summer, our cruise times are 8:50am, 11:10am, 1:30pm, and 3:55pm. 🌞

Our two-hour cruise goes the length of the fiord (16km) out to the Tasman Sea. Each cruise has no more than 60 or 75 spaces available. Go small for a big adventure. 🤩

The views through Fiordland are spectacular. You can observe the surrounding flora even on the short walk from the parking areas to our terminal.

The walk to the terminal is a quick 10-15 minutes from the paid parking area, where an hourly rate of $10/hour applies. Parking at Deepwater Basin is free, and you'll have a 20-30 minute scenic walk to the terminal. There are four designated mobility parking spaces in front of the Visitor Terminal. 🚗⁠

Lady Bowen Falls is the tallest permanent waterfall in Milford Sound / Piopiotahi. At 162 metres, it provides power and drinking water to the township of Milford Sound. You can spot the falls on the right at the start of your journey from the Milford Sound Terminal. 💧🏔️
