And just like that we’re on holiday. What you say during the busiest time of the year?

Unapologetically yes.

Health is wealth and so is whānau who are an extension to my oranga tonu tanga (ongoing well-being).

2024 we hope to build on sharing more of our stories via this platform. Stay tuned!

Here’s to a happy, safe and prosperous one ☝️

Ngā mihi o te tau hou e te whānau ko te manako ia ka whai rawa, whai ora, whai whanaungatanga tātou i a tātou! 🙌🏽🎊

We all have our own unique stories, our own whakapapa and pathways that shape WHO we are now. Posting because first impressions and judging a person on their appearance alone can make for some awkward moments! Some indigenous young people here starting out on their journey of self discovery and cultural identity reclamation makes for endearing viewing.

Share those stories, embrace them, and ko te mea nui (the main thing) be proud of who you are and where you came from.

E poho kereru ana i a koe cuzzy Porina 👊🏽

Tau kē!

Go for a banana boat ride on Lake Taupō, skip through a sunflower meadow in Manawatū, and whizz through the treetops on the West Coast.

From a cultural perspective even though the Māori New Year occurs during Winter we still want to wish that 2023 brings you all the things you dream of and more.

Ngā mihi nui o te tau hou!

I had the pleasure of the company of Dirk and Ria from Brugge. You know the beauty of a small intimate group is the real exchange, the dialogue we can have in the space of time so much so the sociological differences that may exist between our cultures seem less so and you begin to find more and more common ground.

That’s what it’s all about though isn’t it?

How nice is it to be part of a cohort committed to reducing their carbon footprint and making business decisions around providing sustainable outcomes for their business, their manuhiri (visitors) and our taiao?

Question is purely rhetorical. ‘Cause we know the answer 😉 🌱

One day on an eBike and I always have manuhiri (guests) remarking on the ease of use of these awesome innovations.
Our bikes were supplied by Dan and Lisa at Electrify Mount Maunganui. Great bikes and amazing post sales service.

Yes, that’s my plug 😉

About to buy a bike? Why not consider an e-bike instead?

Waiting to exhale! Whew. We all know the saying “It takes a Village” but truly in this case nothing but love for my Te Whānau Tāpoi Māori ō Tauranga Moana Incorporated Society peeps for today. Too many to name but you know who you are 💚💚💚

He mihi whakawhetai hoki ki a koutou katoa. I tuku aroha, manaaki māku i te ata nei.

John and Jan from Manchester. You were amazing guests to our beautiful neck of the woods. Thank you both.

If there’s one way to see parts of our beautiful country it’s GODZone. If you’re partial to a bit of trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing and rafting over a vast array of different landscapes here in good old Aotearoa then this might be for you (I know MY limits!).
Oh did I mention it’s done over the course of 4-5 days? Oh and it’s a RACE?

Well that’s exactly what my friend Hannah and her three teammates do for their (I’m sure) light entertainment as they came 3rd in this years GODZone 2022.

I’m not saying get out there and bust a gut in order to tick something off your bucket list. This is a gentle reminder for you to do something that gets you out of your comfort zone. This year! That’s right. We’re nearly halfway in to the THIRD month of the year and what have you done to challenge yourself? To push yourself mentally?

For some it may be just walking the dogs everyday and deciding each day you’ll go further. Ok so it’s not a 5 day race but you get my drift. Just get out there and do it!

Peace

I can’t say for sure that my whanaunga (cuzzy), Porina, would be 100% cool with me sharing (what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her hey?!) but she has the voice of an angel and you get to see our beautiful Tipuna maunga, ko Mauao and a seascape of Te Awanui our moana. Enjoy. 🌸🙌🏽

Stoked to once again support an awesome kaupapa (project) alongside one of my iwi

While tending to my urupa (whanau cemetery) was the order of the day for me, our paihikara hiko (eBikes) snaked from Pukewhānake through Wairoa, and all the way to Huria Rugby club hosted at particular historical and cultural points of interest by Matua Des Tata and the “cuzzies” Antoine and Damien along the way.

Blessed to be able to help and thankful that I can

I get told all the time that I don't post enough this Whārangi (Page). I'm a self-confessed Social Media dunce and much prefer the environment of my office outdoors (who wouldn't right?) than being behind a laptop or my phone.
To be really honest. I haven't read this article. 😏 But I'm going off the kōrero (chat) of the awesome peeps in our Tourism whānau that it's pretty good.

Nau mai, haere mai, (Welcome! Come!)

See you soon

It’s not every day you get to go and support your Tauranga Te Whānau Tāpoi Māori ō Tauranga Moana Incorporated Society tāpoi whānau but we did with the stunning Rangataiki awa as our backdrop….

Would do it again in a heartbeat. Perfect for most ages fitness levels the scenery alone is worth the trips. What are you waiting for? Get in there if you haven’t already! 😉 💗

What’s in store for twenty twenty two? I’m a bit of a numerology tragic and in 2021 we were led by the number 5 - off balance, out of sorts and constant frustration. Erm, sounds familiar?
The six year (2022 = 2+2+2) brings healing and reinvention for us all with a focus on whānau. At all levels. So where ever you are in amongst your daily, weekly and monthly projects this year, take the time for self (love, reflection, awareness - you get the gist). After all, you can’t take care of anyone else if you’re not doing the same for YOU!

Ngā mihi o te tau hou e te whānau. See you all soon.

This Saturday April 24th. All are welcome to come and meet our group and our offerings.

Nau mai ki te Wharetāpoi o Tauranga Moana.
