• Marlborough 🍇 WineWorks are industry experts.

WineWorks began in 1995 to provide key bottling infrastructure for wineries. In the following 20 years we’ve grown with our winery customers, to ensure we have capacity for our customers in the New Zealand wine industry. We’ve made (and continue to make) big investments in world-class technology, machinery and facilities, and of course our people. Bottling, labelling, storage and distribution are

highly specialised processes. We have the expertise, experience and , coupled with our enthusiastic application of what we’ve learnt through Lean Manufacturing, make it easy for you. For our customers, we see ourselves as the ‘gearbox’ of your business – we look after the ‘industrial’ side of bottling wine, and then store and despatch it. This enables you to do what you do best – grow and market great New Zealand wines.

At this time of year, our Instagram feeds are painted green with pictures of grapes ripening on the vines, which also means Tim’s Annual Vintage Sweepstake is upon us! Following from last year, there will be two winners: anyone outside of WineWorks, and a member from our team. The lucky winners will each walk away with a crisp $100 note, a celebratory visit from Tim himself, and the pride of being the winner of correctly (or closely) guessing the tonnage of 2025!

Even if you follow your gut, follow statistics, or gaze into a crystal ball, your guess is as good as anyone’s! You have until the 28th of February to pick a figure and enter, via the link below. The winner will be announced around mid-June once NZWG has released the official figures.

🩸💧🍺 Last Friday in Marlborough was Blood, Sweat and Beers. Over 100 mountain-bike riders from across the local wine industry participated for a great night of riding and of course the opportunity for some bragging rights!

Team WineWorks showed up strong, with 24 players split into six groups of four. We had an array of acoustic, electric and hybrid bikes in the race. When you look at the numbers, you would think they would be on our side...

Unfortunately we didn’t make the podium, although ourteam Rima's fleet of e-bikes completed 11 laps with the fastest time of 2:096:39! Excellent mahi 💪🚴

Thanks to the organisers for a great event and to Pernod Ricard for sharing your beautiful location with us. It’s a great event: friendly competition, scenic biking, and of course some cold ones! 🍺

This week, we celebrated a special milestone: John Kenny has just ticked over TWENTY years at WineWorks Marlborough! John was hired by long-time work buddy, Andrew, to run the filler machine for our (then) new second line back when the business was called Marlborough Bottling Company. Many of our clients will know John's friendly face.

John could have retired a number of years ago, but instead, he shows up every morning for work without fail. Congratulations, John 🍻💪

The Big Cheque was handed to Cranford Hospice the other day! This year, the Hawke's Bay Wine Auction raised $335,697 for Cranford Hospice.

What an amazing result!

It was great to see a number of our clients put together some cool wine packages to go to the highest bidder. Each of your contributions helped make up that huge donation! 🍇

❤️ What a very special moment it was handing over this year's cheque for a whopping $335,697.

We were thrilled to share it with some of the Cranford Hospice team, Sandra Hazlehurst, Mayor of Hastings and many of our sponsors.

A huge part of the reason we can make the commitment that every cent raised at the auction is donated to Cranford is thanks to the ongoing generosity of our sponsors.
So, as we close out a very successful 2024, we send our thanks to the local businesses and councils whose support means the world to us and Cranford Hospice.

Howard, from Gibson Bridge came in for his bottling run last week. Gibson Bridge is one of the many small boutique wineries who trust us with the final steps of creating their wines.

🍇 Based in Marlborough, Howard and his wife Julie are passionate about Pinot Gris, they specialise in small-lot boutique batches solely from their 2.6Ha vineyard, which nurtures over 5,500 vines. These two are hands on with every step of the process; establishing the entire vineyard themselves 20 years ago. Howard is often seen on the tractor tending the vineyard and Julie offers one of the most warm-hearted Cellar Door experiences.

Businesses like Gibson Bridge and their special wines add so much to the wine industry. Their recent bottling run was special for them too, as their Reserve Pinot Gris scored a 5-star (95+ points) Wine Orbit gold medal for the second year in a row! 🏅🎉

It’s always a pleasure working with people like Howard and Julie 🥂

It was a very exciting week for us at WineWorks, especially for the Marlborough team… They just had their first ever official Bag in Box runs!

Our brand-new filler is set up to handle 2-litre bags, and to make it even better, these bags are 100% recyclable too 🌱

We’ve got the bags, the boxes, and the brawn to help you do something new for your wine! 🍇🍷

The 2024 Marlborough Wine Show was held the other weekend and it was a great day to see so many of our clients get recognised with trophies!

We proudly sponsor both Sauvignon Blanc trophies and this year they go to:
🏆 Yealands Wines for Champion Sauvignon Blanc (Current Vintage)
🏆Saint Clair Family Estate Champion Sauvignon Blanc (2023 & Older)

And a special mention again to Yealands for taking home two extra trophies for their Single Block L5 Sauvignon Blanc: ⭐ The Coterie Wine of Provenance and the Circuit Logistics Champion Awatere & South Marlborough ⭐

🌱 When local CO2 resources were scarce, it was very apparent that we had to reduce our CO2 gas usage, divert, and save what we had for Hawke’s Bay.

Our experts across the business began investigating and running rests as soon as they could to minimise as much disruption as possible. →

It’s Organic Wine Week! Did you know that over 10% of New Zealand wineries are certified organic? Here at WineWorks, we have the right certification to handle organic wine.

Each year, we are audited by BioGro to ensure that our facilities are adequately set up to bottle, package, and distribute organic wines.

For vineyards to achieve this , they must follow organic practices for more than three years to receive the certification! It is a long process, but going organic, and being certified organic, is a great milestone to achieve.

A huge thank you to everyone for their part in this: to all our local wineries who so generously support this event, the team at for all their organisation, and to our fellow sponsors.
But a special thanks to all the bidders on the night who helped reach this total; you have some very special wines in more way than one. Thank you!

Today is Box Wine Day!! Here at WineWorks, we are excited to begin celebrating this day each year. Why? Because we’re going to have our very own Bag in Box filler!

Here are some photos of the current installation of the filler. It might not look like much now, but shortly the filler and all the other compartments will be connected. Our team is working hard at getting all the ducks in a row with the installation and roll out of the new filler.

Watch this space for more progress updates and information on how this service will work! ⚙️🛠️🔩

🌱 Because we have bottling facilities across New Zealand, staff travel is common.
Our carbon emission pledge and the subsequent pandemic lockdowns influenced how we perceived this luxury.
Now, our teams are encouraged to only travel between sites if it’s essential. And, à la pandemic days, video calls are our recommended alternative, and get the job done just as well!
