Education
Every country has its own character as to teaching and learning. Delivering content to the students has always had different methodologies and needless to say there has been a huge debate as to which methodology has been the best.
Coming from an educational background from India and having taught in India, Thailand and New Zealand for decades, I have concluded that it really depends on what you want for your child and above all what does your child want. Which methodology suits your child, can they learn in a large or small environment, do they prefer a practical approach to learning or require a conventional approach.
With the Results for senior secondary school out in India for the ICSE and other boards soon declaring results, parents and caregivers have the task of guiding their children to a pathway for future. A lot depends on the interests your child has developed or is developing alongside the ability to achieve those goals.
Future: What might seem as a rewarding career in your home country may not be the same for other countries. Let’s take a typical scenario, your child like to break cars and build them again, Is he/she inclining towards being a Motor Mechanic. As a parent, you imagine the Mechanic you saw the last time your car broke down and the money you paid him. You are determined that my child is not going to make his hands dirty in this environment.
A different approach: Have you ever thought if the same study was pursued in any other country, would your child have the same work environment as your local mechanic? Would he have a better and more rewarding career? Would he be able to set up his own garage with latest technology one day?
Study in New Zealand: There can be hundreds on such examples of careers and options available. Cultures and the pressure from the society plays a major role in deciding careers and pathways. We as adults can also succumb to such pressures resulting in a wrong pathway for our children. Let’s think outside the square and think New Zealand.
