N&A were booked in late last year for their Autumn wedding, while the NZ borders were still up. A few weeks before the wedding we found out that international travel was opening up, so there was a rush of rebooking vendors with a new spring date in order to get their closest family and friends to the wedding...what a win this was!
Such a high energy group, so much laughter and love on this day it was just amazing.
Not only were you both so gorgeous to be around, but your friends and family were a blast to be around as well. You surround yourselves with loving, kind and caring people...who like a good laugh, and it was a pleasure to be there with you during such an epic celebration, T-Rex costume and all! A&K chose one of our elopement packages. Along with, the closest of their family they said their "I do's" under the most delightful display of Cherry blossoms. This was the perfect setting after a couple of very tough years for them both, and we were so happy to be able to help them get to this place on their couple journey.
A& K, you are such a kind, sweet and humble couple, with the cutest boys. This was such a beautiful day, and it was a real honor to be part of it, thank you so much for including us in such an important day for your all.

Our last wedding for the season in late May...and what a cracker!!
G&L were so chill, these two booked the venue when the reception area was a pile of rubble, not a marquee in sight. They fully believed that we would have a space for their function based on trust...thanks for believing in us guys, that meant a lot!
Their day was AMAZING, Fun, Vibrant, happy and full of love and laughter....so much of everything needed for great day.
Thanks so much for trusting us all those months ago, we had a blast and hope you did too!

S&K, our local sweat-hearts. One thing about Waihi is that everyone knows everyone, and this is especially true in this case. In the lead up to this big day I couldn't make a call, send an email or pop into a shop without someone saying they knew one of these two darlings.
It was so wonderful helping you both create such a lovely day; you're love for each other is so clear, and I look forward to constantly bumping into you in the supermarket for chats and update.

E&T. Well, what can I say, the story that goes with this couple booking us is the cutest ever.
Ellie's parents were married here at The Waterlily Gardens nearly 40 years ago, so when I received that first email from E saying how she would love to come and have a look I had to ask for a quick look at her parents wedding album, and it did not disappoint! On meeting the whole family, flipping through the coolest wedding album from the 70's, and listening to the vision E and T had for their special day, I knew this was going to be an event like no other...and boy was I right! It was easy to get caught up in the excitement, and all the little details that these two executed were just divine. I was a whole lot of involved in this day, and I am so glad I was able to help you with all of those little things.
What fun the whole day was, crazy, busy, wild...but fun, and filled with laughter. Thank you for including me in that!
We wish you both 40 years plus of that same fun and craziness.... it's what make you both so perfect.

A&H... Rach's cousins (kinda, not really) .... got married on an awesome NZ Autumn day, this truely was a crazy day, with showers and sun, and then showers again. We just managed to get the ceremony outside, with pure luck and some pretty crazy decision making.
This was so much fun working with you two to make this special day, you really are the coolest couple.
You are ... even if I may be slightly biased!

T&S what a story! These two have been engaged for-EVER. They had a whole family, and even became grandparents between getting engaged, and finally marrying each other in this beautiful ceremony. We were so, so happy to help them on this special day, celebrating their lives together to this point, and looking forward to their lives together moving forward.
T&S, you are two such special people, kind, considerate, loving and your sense of family importance is humbling to see. The Waterlily Gardens is on the lookout for a new bar person.
This is for one afternoon/evening a week, usually a Friday or Saturday, during our busy wedding season.
Experience working behind a bar would be advantageous, but training can be provided for the right person. A Bar managers licence or the intent to obtain a bar managers licence would be preferential.
You must be over 18 for this role, and have a calm, positive and professional manner.

S&B made use of the long weekend in Easter for an extended celebration. They married each other on a stunning Autumn day in April, and it was just incredible. The lighting was insane, and our fab favs from Dear White Productions created these remarkable images. I'm sure our couple are as delighted as we are.
S&B were the cutest couple, they are so well suited. They share the same incredible positive attitude. They don't stop smiling, even when things fail to go exactly as planned, and everyone around them is drawn to that bubbly, happy feeling.

S&H married each other in the most incredible ceremony in the middle of the Japanese gardens, on a gorgeous April day.
The vibe was classic but fun, and a they certainly got that. Nearly a hundred of their friends and family turned up to help them celebrate in the most spectacular way.
These two and their massive support group were buzzing from the moment they arrived to the moment they left, and we loved it!

L&G were guests at a previous wedding, and when L popped the question, they just knew they had to have their special day here with us.
When the wedding party arrived for their rehearsal, it was like having old friends visiting. It was so easy to be around this super chilled crowd. We felt like guests ourselves, and this made for a fun and fabulous wedding.
L&G you are officially part of the WLG family, your magnanimous personalities are a real joy to be around, you are kind, considerate and loving and we are so grateful that we were able to spend this time with you, your family and your friends.

Our local lovebirds, M&A had a very intimate Autumn ceremony in April this year, followed by a casual reception for the greater family and friend group.
This was a perfect example of making your wedding day a reflection of you as a couple. Neither of them wanted the big ceremony, they didn't want the late night dance party...they wanted chill and casual...and they had it!
This was such aa relaxed day for the guests and the staff, a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon with a lovely couple and their nearest and dearest.

J&B were the sweetest couple, they choose an early-autumn day over by the nursery ponds, to take advantage of the cooler days. The whole day was about relaxing with loved ones...until that is, it was time to party!
The whole day was a reflection of them as a couple, they made sweet choices which worked for them and it resulted in a fabulous day surrounded by those most important to them.

R&S...Right up to the day before we didn't know if we would get these two hitched...but we did it, and my god was it an amazing feeling.
Everyone who has planned a wedding knows how stressful it can be, but all the extras put on this couple were intense. This incredible couple put so much trust in me that it would all be ok, and everyone was gunning for them, hoping beyond all hopes that it would all be fine.
Looking back I am in awe of what you both did, the obstacles you overcome to have your perfect day. You showed so much strength and took each hurdle in your stride and what a result!
We all felt like this wedding was an absolute triumph.
A perfect day for a perfect family. Thank you both for trusting me in those last few days, thank you for choosing us, and thank you for being so damn awesome!

N&Z what a day!
These two cool cats managed to organise a wedding of epic proportions around ever changing rules and regulations that were put in place.
I really feel over this time, our couples supported us as much as we supported them, with what was a very difficult time.
N&Z were no exception. They were organised, patient....and intent on having the best possible day. With an army of friends, family and amazing vendors to help make last minute decisions and step in when needed, this day went superbly!
We were so grateful that you chose our venue for your wedding day, you really are an extraordinary couple. It was an honour to not only meet you, but to help you create such a magical day for you both. We wish you a lifetime of the love and support you showed for each other during this time.

Have you ever seen anything more beautiful!
Lots of planning and attention to details went into this incredible day....S&I were one of our couples who had to reschedule due to the Lockdowns....but wow....look what they did on this beautiful Thursday last March.
These two stunners are the kindest most gentle of people, the friends and family they surround themselves with were an absolute pleasure to have here. K&B...third time lucky is an actual thing!
Postponement after postponement led these two and their families through, what felt like, a never ending cycle of disappointments. They were all at the end of their wits. So many tearful conversations, so many rescheduling of vendors and rescheduling again...but WE DID IT!!
We got them married and what a wedding day it was! I think everyone who was here, came with the promise to make this the best darn day of all time, and boy did they deliver!
K&B, thank you for trusting us to do this for you, what a ride!

Jasper & Jane Hawkins performed at a very special wedding here today (photos to come), these two were unbelievably good. Every single staff member, vendor and guest were awestruck. Awesome work guys, hope to have you back again soon x

We're so in love with these cherry blossoms, we wish it lasted longer than three weeks!

The Mood that the Waterlily Gardens has lifted significantly with the news that we can now accommodate weddings of up to 100 guests again! I know we will have some very relieved Brides and Grooms out there. We are so excited to start our wedding season with our new and improved function area...here is a sneak peak at our new display pond and waterfall feature down by the Pavilion Marquee.

A few months ago we were lucky enough to have Dan from D-drone NZ join us for a very special wedding at our gardens. Dan is such a lovely guy, he took the time to visit the property prior to the wedding to find all of the secret spots, and chatted to some of our other couples that were visiting as well. He was so happy filming here that he managed to record way too much footage. So, he made us this stunning video of what he captured. One of the things our couples say when they visit us, is that the pictures don't show the scale and beauty of the property...we think this video helps do just that :-) Thanks so much Dan, cant wait to get you back here soon! x Rach, Ev and the Waterlily Team D-drone NZ
