Wow, it’s been 10 years since the Gold Discovery Centre opened its doors!
It was Friday 26th September 2014 that the official opening took place. At that time the GDC included the Waihi isite Visitor Information Centre, the Waihi Gold Experience and Waihi Gold Mine Tours. Waihi Bicycle Hire has been added to mix in recent years.
Come and help us celebrate our 10-year milestone with ½ price entry to the Waihi Gold Experience from the 20th of September to the 30th September.

CELEBRATING 10 YEARS IN WAIHI
Come and help us celebrate 10 years since the Gold Discovery Centre opened its doors.
To mark this milestone, we’re offering all of our visitors ½ price entry to the Waihi Gold Experience for 10 days from the 20th to the 30th of September.
For locals, it’s a great chance to check out your town’s gold mining journey. The Waihi Gold Experience provides a hands-on, immersive overview of our fascinating story that now spans three centuries, and still continues today.

Part-time summer work at WAIHI'S GOLD DISCOVERY CENTRE and isite.

The Waihi Gold Discovery Centre is a vibrant visitor hub offering tourism services to visitors from around the country and the world. As we prepare for the up-coming summer season we are looking for more team members to help deliver our great range of visitor experiences.

We have casual part-time positions available for our Mine Tours, information and customer services and Bike Hire over the busy summer season. For all these rolls you’ll need to be a people person and have great customer service experience and skills. For our Mine Tours you will need a clean driver’s license and having a class 2 license and passenger endorsement would be an advantage.

If you like interacting with people from all parts of the world, and think you’ve got skills that will add value to their experience with us, then we’d like to hear from you.

It's that time again! The nationwide test of the Emergency Mobile Alert system is happening on Sunday 26 May between 6-7pm 📱⚠️

Emergency Mobile Alerts are messages about emergencies sent by authorised emergency agencies to capable mobile phones. The alerts are designed to keep people safe and are broadcast to cell phones from targeted cell towers.

The alerts are targeted to areas affected by serious hazards and are only sent when there is a serious threat to life, health or property.

The nationwide test allows us to check the system, and lets you understand how your phone will receive an Emergency Mobile Alert; so, we all have confidence the system will perform as it should in an emergency.
