We hate writing these posts 😔

Along Pōrangahau Road where our teams are working, we've had reports of abusive behaviour and dangerous driving.

We know this is a small portion of drivers and the majority of our community are kind and understanding.

But, a message to the few that are behaving like this - this is really not cool, and not fair for the teams who are just doing their job. It's reached the point that we are needing to ask for police assistance which is a drain on their resources as well.

Remember, the reason why the teams are doing this work is to ensure safety of our road users. We want everyone to make it home at night safely.

Please help share this message to help stamp out anti-social behaviour like this in our community ❤️‍🩹

Sunday 18 February 4. 00pm Cine-concert Central Hawkes Bay Municipal Theatre, Waipawa. Buster Keaton: “The General” accompanied on piano by Chris Hainsworth.

Chris Hainsworth, a Wellingtonian who has been free-lancing in Europe for 40 years and is now Organist of Beziers Cathedral, tours New Zealand in February-March 2024 with an “ORGAN PROMS CONCERT” including his usual mixture of high and low-brow music and witty and informative presentations. Features of the programme this year include: Composer of the Year Theodore Dubois, who died just 100 years ago and deserves to be played more widely than is the case; virtuoso brilliance from Scarlatti, Kreisler and Monti; beautiful reflective moments from Mendelssohn, Vaughan William and Saint-Saëns; while the magnum opus is surely Bach’s great Prelude and Triple Fugue in Eb. The final apocalypse will as usual be a “Grand Megalomaniacal Improvisation” on themes suggested by the public.
Commenting on this year's programme, Chris says he is aiming at variety, and trying to provide something for everyone: serious and less serious, entertaining but thought-provoking, while connecting music to the realities of life....
In a 2009 concert in Auckland, Monsieur Hainsworth “died” at the organ, while in Invercargill in 2011 smoke poured out of the instrument at the end of his recital and in 2015 he gave several concerts with his broken wrist in a sling... don't miss the 2024 vintage!
Chris is also very keen on silent movies, which he has accompanied regularly for several decades in New Zealand and in Europe, notably at the International Film Festivals of St Tropez and Wroclav.

Cream toffee...yum.
We lived on the Chatham Islands and always had plenty and milk and cream thanks to our cows Daisy and Red. We would often make toffee out of the stale cream...equal quantities of cream and sugar with a little vinegar. Easy to make.
A lovely memory of my childhood. It's a wonder we still have teeth!
