Amazing glowworm displays and no tour buses! We offer a real caving experience for groups of 8 or less. With no footpaths, lights or any modifications just beautiful untouched New Zealand at its finest. Don’t forget a small camera to capture this 3 hour experience. All equipment/clothing provided. Ages 11+
Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues as tour involves walking up steep slops, climbing over boulders and through water. A reasonable level of fitness is required.

A huge shout out to the Te Kuiti emergency services who responded so quickly yesterday.

Unfortunately, some of our customers were involved in a head-on car accident. Thankfully, everyone walked away with just a few scratches and bruises.

Even at this busy time of year the emergency services arrived in just over 10 minutes, which is incredible considering how remote we are!

A big thank you to everyone who helped, and a reminder to drive safely and always keep left!

COVID who? Our visitor numbers are up and breaking all kinds of personal records. We are meeting loads of new friends from all over the world every day! Now summer has arrived we are booking out most weeks—this week, we have only got 2 spaces left, and the week has just started!

Spring in Waitomo has certainly kept us on our toes with the unpredictable weather! 🌦️ One minute it’s raining, the next the sun is shining, and then—more rain! But today, the sun’s out, the washing’s on the line, and we’ve got tea, coffee and biscuits set up, ready to welcome our morning visitors back from their underground adventure. 😎☕ We could definitely get used to this! Roll on, summer! ☀️

Take a closer look at her design and you’ll see touches of the cave, glowworms, native bush, gumboots, and of course, those signature striped tights!

Ash is our resident dad joke expert, and our customers absolutely love him as their guide. Then there’s Stefan, the behind-the-scenes, Mr fix it and brains of the operation.

Our Story

We are a family in Waitomo that just happens to have an AMAZING world-class glow worm cave system right under our farm!

We decided to open our backyard to strangers from all over the world back in 2015. To our delight our visitors LOVE this place as much as we do! Which is perfect for us because now we get to spend everyday enjoying our little piece of New Zealand paradise.
