20/03/2022

The causeway stones are located 1.2km from the Visitor Centre so a reasonable level of fitness is required. The Blue Trail is the most direct route to the causeway stones. The trail does have some steep inclines and the natural gradient of the terrain may not be suitable for visitors with reduced mobility, manual wheelchair users or older visitors. It also may not be suitable for some battery operated wheelchairs or mobility vehicles.

The Green Trail takes you along a clifftop towards Runkerry with views of the causeway stones. On most days you can also see Scotland and the Inishowen Peninsula in Ireland too. This path has a level gradient and is accessible for wheelchair users however some help from a companion or carer may be necessary on parts of path where there are loose stones.

We do have wheelchairs available for loan from the Visitor Welcome desk within the Visitor Centre, subject to availability.

The Giant's Causeway Visitor Experience is fully dog friendly, with dogs on leads welcome for every step of the Visitor Experience, including within the Visitor Centre and on guided tours. We have dog water bowls at the front and back doors of the Visitor Centre.

Those moments you just have to capture. Out running on a warm summers evening and the sunlight was just catching the trees through a cutting in a small country road in east Taranaki.
