The rare Buff Weka population is looking good this breeding season, as Sally has found an amorous "Toyboy" after losing a 29 chick producing partnership with 3 years older partner WALLY WEKA...
He came from the Chatham Islands originally, to save this sub species from extinction, a prolific breeder,
Wally met Sally, and the rest is history.... To hear the family tree of these quirky, nosey flightless birds on , come with the only Ecotour that plants a food tree on every trip to this predator free island.
This sub species has been extinct in the wild on Mainland NZ since 1920. This is the largest population of Buff Weka in the wild in New Zealand.
