"I just wanted to say what a fantastic time we had on the self drive tour that finished up yesterday.

Thank you so much for all the organisation and recommendations and bookings.

Highlights for me were
- the heli hike at Franz Josef glacier
- doubtful sound cruise
- generally staying in great accommodation that was very close to scenic views, very walkable to dining options and great amenities

We really appreciate the work that went into taking care of our needs particularly travelling with two toddlers. All of the accommodation and transfers were fitted out appropriately ahead of time.

NZ Gift Idea: New Zealand Greenstone, the Pounamu (Jade)

Upon arriving in New Zealand, the Māori discovered that their new home had beautiful green stones. They named them Pounamu (Jade). They discovered that this stone was not just beautiful, it is hard enough to make it useful as a tool or even jewellery.
According to local tradition, just as pounamu was a gift from the land in its natural form, greenstone should always be a gift between two people.

Small pieces can sometimes be found on the West coast of the south island, so watch out, nature might give you this truly beautiful gift around the beaches in the area. (check online that the area you are in allows the stone to be removed, as certain areas have restrictions)
