Happy Monday! Here’s a fun fact to begin the week with: formed over 30 million years ago, the Punakaiki pancake rocks are made up of fragments of dead marine creatures and plants on the sea bed about two kilometres below the surface. While water pressure caused the fragments to solidify into hard layers, acidic rain sculpted the limestone into the ‘pancake’ stacks you see today.
