Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has revealed today the government’s five-step plan to fully re-open the borders by Oct.
Step one will see vaccinated New Zealanders coming from Australia able to return and self-isolate, rather than stay in MIQ, from 1159 27 Feb.
This will then be extended to vaccinated Kiwis from the rest of the world as well as critical and skilled workers and their families two weeks later, from 1159 13 Mar as part of step two.
Step three will see temporary visa holders and international students able to enter the country from 1159 12 Apr.
Ardern describes step four as ‘the biggest expansion yet’, allowing those into the country who can normally enter the country without visas, such as Australia.
The PM says they expect this stage no later than Jul, with it ‘highly likely’ it could be be earlier.
The final stage will occur in Oct, and allows all other visitors and students that require visas to enter NZ. . . MIQ
MIQ will remain for high risk, unvaccinated travellers coming into New Zealand.

✈️ NZ: NO JAB, NO FLY FROM FEB ✈️

Air New Zealand chief executive Greg Foran has just announced on TVNZ’s Q & A programme that the carrier will move to a ‘no jab, no fly’ policy for international travel from Feb.

There will be exemptions for those with medical conditions and certain age groups. Foran said the carrier was working through the details.
