Hi there, I’m Charmaine Hawke – a self-proclaimed beer lover and travel geek. I have a passion for travel, good food & beer,experience, culture and fun! Being a traveller all of my life and a people person, my logical career path was to work in the travel industry. So for 4

years I worked as a travel agent. I became a mother in 2005 and made the decision to become a Travel Broker in order to give me the flexibility of working from home and still do what I was passionate about. I also found I could offer a more personal and extensive service brokering rather than in the retail environment of a travel agency, with many of my clients now making the transition from client to friend. I love experiencing different cultures, I love history & geography and most of all I love learning. I am being paid to do just that - to learn. The stranger the place a person wants to go, the stranger the experience they want to have, I get to learn about and impart that knowledge on to the client for them to then go and experience for themselves. How does beer fit in? Other than travel and all that that entails, I also LOVE Beer and in particular the Craft Beer scene (some may call me a Beer Snob!). The idea had been brewing (pun intended) about creating Beer Tours overseas for other enthusiasts like me. So combining my two loves ‘Travel and Beer’ Hop Abroad was born. I’m so pleased to offer this unique holiday experience - taste a tipple overseas, discover the World’s finest brewing, sightsee, experience other cultures and to have some adventure. I recently had to do a 10 minute presentation for my BNI chapter and it had me reflecting on the diversity of scenery in Utah. My 10 day road trip was something I would advise clients to do in 14 as you do need 2 days in Canyonlands National Park to see it in all its grandeur.

Walking is the best way to orientate your way around a city, added bonus is the street art

Mighty 5 done and dusted with Arches National Park today. You need to prebook a time slot to enter the park but if you want to see sunrise a 5.30 am arrival works well.

Bryce Canyon didn’t disappoint, spectacular landscape but you need to be fit to do the trails. Also be very clear which directions for your Tomtom gps (google maps no good due to patchy reception) we had a bit of a detour down 50kms of country (read gravel) roads to get to Escalante. Yes that is a cow blocking the road, took her 5 minutes to decide to move for us.

Definitely quieter but no less spectacular than Antelope Canyon this is a gentle 1 mile stroll. Formed over thousands of years from sand dunes this place took my breath away at every turn.

Only 10% of visitors to The Grand Canyon go to the north rim and they are missing out on some of the most breathtaking views of the canyon. My photos do not do justice to what you see when you are there.

Todays drive took us to Kanab via Zion Mountain Ranch (well worth a 1 night stop) and Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Kanab is a great option to stay if Zion or Bryce National Parks are full as it is a short drive to both places.

This has to be one of the most spectacular places I have been. Get an E-bike and cycle the park stopping on the way to explore the trails. If biking is not your thing then there is a shuttle you can catch.

One of the hidden gems at this hotel is The suite of the retro future that replicates the Monsanto’s house of the future from Disneyland with some modern touches (not sure about the Bluetooth toilet). Available for a 2 night stay at $1957 USD plus taxes.

It was nice to get back to one of my favourite theme parks. There are some great new rides and many old favourites still there. After our last trip when Ghost Rider was closed it was great to finally check that ride off and get a couple of rounds on Silver Bullet, thanks Fast Pass on a weekend like today you were worth your weight in gold.

If you had wondered how the cruise industry coped with lockdowns and their possible future post covid this video is a great watch.
